Benefits are now minimal

Pros

Coworkers are great to work with.

Cons

Pay vs. Industry Standards: Current salaries are significantly below market benchmarks. Reduced Benefits: 401(k) match has decreased. Health insurance costs for employees have increased substantially. No Performance Incentives: No bonuses or merit increases. No pay adjustments for taking on additional departments or higher volume. Policy Changes Affecting Flexibility: Unused vacation hours are no longer paid out. Hybrid employees are now required to work 4 days in-office. Hiring Practices: Preference for external hires over internal growth opportunities. Impact: These changes risk lowering engagement and increasing turnover, especially when competitors offer stronger compensation and flexibility.

Chico’s is a shell of a company being dismantled by Knitwell

Pros

The pros were when I first worked there and it was actually a company that managed to care somewhat about their customers and employees. It actually felt like we did something good and that we made a difference. The pros now are at least that most of the people who facilitated making this company terrible also got crushed by knitwells takeover and have been fired as well. I look forward to watching LinkedIn to see all of the people who lied to us and themselves that the buyout was a good thing are now being met with unemployment as well.

Cons

Every software program they use is broken or mishandled to the point that they can’t function as a company. They are actively dismantling any culture of companionship and camaraderie at the facilities and have sold off most of the assets splitting it up to the cheapest labor they can find They would rather hire foreign people who are third party that they don’t train than provide their customers with a quality experience. This helps them skirt labor laws, pay marginalized people next to nothing all while touting how American they are. If you work there you will hear daily from customers how terrible your service, returns, clothing, quality etc is and there is nothing you can do about it because no one has any answers or knows what they’re doing. They will tell you what they want then change it making work extremely confusing while moving the bar constantly to keep you from meeting goals so that way they don’t have to pay commission or bonuses. I genuinely think Knitwell will actually kill off all the brands they bought up then sell the naming rights to a third party so they can continue to use the name but make the clothes even cheaper and poorer quality while still charging the customer more.

Such a Disappointment

Pros

My coworkers were absolutely lovely people. Hard-working, positive, and happy to help women truly look and feel their best.

Cons

I worked for Chico's FAS over 13 years and when I left in good standing they wouldn't even pay out 1 weeks worth of earned PTO. It's disheartening to know that the company I worked so hard for doesn't even practice good corporate citizenship. "Due to a recent policy change Chico's will no longer pay out unused PTO unless required by state law." -The response from Corp when I asked them for my earned PTO. The policy as stated sounds alot like: "We only reimburse earned leave if you can make us" ..... Not addressing the merit of paying employees what they earned contributes to a bad reputation for the company. Is Chicos a reputable company and/or a good place to work? Unfortunately, no. Would you recommend family or friends to work or shop there? Also, no. There are undoubtedly many benefits afforded by Chico's to employees at varying levels of the company that having nothing to do with state law in the multi-states they operate. They are provided by the company because it is good business practice. I say all this instead of talking about the stressful environment, no raises for 2 years (not even a cost of living raise), no bonus or commission when you exceed your sales goals, payroll getting slashed, etc. All of these things are difficult to manage while keeping your team uplifted and on track. But I did it, for years. And after giving notice, leaving in good standing, and being told I'd be welcomed back any time-the company won't do the bare minimum of paying out my PTO.

Zero Intrinsic Motivation

Pros

Pros?! Other than faking that this company cares about their retail staff - NONE.

Cons

Working for this company is mind baffaling. There’s absolutely nothing intrinsically motivating from this company! Lets start off with the breaks: 15 minutes only after standing on your feet for hours while two staffed and waiting for the third staff to clock in hours later, and if you’re working 8 hrs only a 30 minute break- while trying to multitask unrealistic expectations. Understaffed and no hours for the store to have three or four staffed at the same time for floor coverage. No bonus for the assistant managers and key holders or for their sales staff who constantly makes their company profitable. And they sent a memo to the mgrs to pull any employee on break off their break to attend to guests??? Are you serious? That’s illegal. Zero employee appreciation and 100% employee abuse. Companies tend to forget they don’t have a business without their retail staff who have to fake their happiness infront of customers day in and day out. The pay is trash after always bringing in the daily goals. They want you to be running around doing all the tasks while attending a full store with one other team member and blame you for everything! Seriously, no one can’t work in this type of toxic environment. Stop taking advantage of your retail staff! And when they have those in store events that are just costing the store team member money because corporate doesn’t allocate funds for those bottle waters, beverages, candies or snacks for the guests. FYI those events are out dated and lack of innovation to bring in new foot traffic and stop making store team members pay for those food items to give for free for the guest, it’s a tax write off for you so please refund the teams for these expenses!!!

Do not care about their employees

Pros

There are not any pros.

Cons

No wage increases with inflation, no bonus. Back to office mandate. Would rather pay to relocate people than take care of their current employees. Advertise as a company for women, it is difficult to be a mother and have this job.

Pros

Teams members are great to work with and very supportive. Also, remote work is great, it allows for flexibility when dropping off and picking up my kids, especially when companies are trying to pull everyone back to the office for "culture and collaboration"

Cons

Very sensitive to the economy, no bonuses or raises in the past year (not even COL increases)
