Employees used to feel valued and heard by home office, until the company was acquired by Knitwell. Now, it’s all about the push of sales at any cost.
The pay is low, especially for internal promotes. The company has a scale that is different for internal promoted versus someone hired outside the company.
The discount is great when you hear it, but items even at the MADE discount are still incredibly high. The company should look into a deeper discount or even perks or contests where employees can win free product.
Employees in the field no longer matter. There is no more work/life balance as stores were told they had to be open for Easter.
Diversity is few and far between. If you are a female with blonde hair, you will fit right in.
Benefits package is awful. Very low PTO, 4 weeks is the standard of pto in retail, but at Chico’s it is three until after 5 years. Also, unable to take PTO and bereavement leave consecutively in the event of a death out of state, where you would be needed to a settle family affairs.
Most stores have been open for years with no updates, not even a coat of paint. Stores are expected to operate like a high end boutique while the fitting room carpet is twenty years old.
