Limited advancement opportunity. There is visible bias and favoritism for career advancement opportunities. People without a relevant skillset/experience get promoted or place into roles just because they are good with the hiring manager or executive team. The executive team is not the strongest. Too many org changes. Aramco dictates Motiva's long-term strategy.

No opportunity for advancement or carrier growth.

The Saudi ownership means that it’s difficult for many things to get approved through the governance process - even the CEO doesn’t have much spending authority. Historically had a lot of re-orgs which makes things unstable.

Performance doesn’t always drive opportunity

Very Broadly: Lack of quality senior leadership leads to confused/conflicted middle management. This eventually leads to office politics and undermines growth and development which leads to turnover. Lots of frustrated people have left in the past year.

Recruiting is focused mainly around 1 university so not too diverse in that regard. Not much interface with parent company Saudi Aramco. WFH not encouraged at all (other operators have added some flexibility here post Covid). Sometimes long hours/weekend work required by salary folks during unit upsets.
