Poor leadership breeds toxicity across the company.

The Saudi ownership means that it’s difficult for many things to get approved through the governance process - even the CEO doesn’t have much spending authority. Historically had a lot of re-orgs which makes things unstable.

Executive leadership does not care about their employees. The mantra here is "reward good work with more work." If you work here, expect very little work/life balance. Motiva refuses to hire help when help is needed, instead opting to throw more on everybody who is already suffocating under their workload, with jobs that don't fall under their own job functions, but somebody else's.

Dysfunctional senior leadership and unhealthy culture

Lacked clear leadership and direction, which led to confusion and inefficiency across teams. Needs stronger management.

Very Broadly: Lack of quality senior leadership leads to confused/conflicted middle management. This eventually leads to office politics and undermines growth and development which leads to turnover. Lots of frustrated people have left in the past year.

Culture of distrust and secrecy and poor management. The large chemical project that could have created growth opportunities ended up being cancelled. Very old school mentality when it comes to flexible and remote work. CEO brings in friends from his network for key positions rather than promoting qualified individuals internally. When split from Shell occurred, Motiva was sold as a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment but Saudi Aramco has become increasingly involved in all decisions and Motiva leadership seems to have very little autonomy.
