Pros

Engineers are all skilled and productive (even the ones being harangued), Lucia and her team prepare lovely meals, decent codebase, great use of AI

Cons

Management listens to loudest voice plus some (many?) teams have harmfully clique-y behavior, high level task priorities and resourcing suboptimal because of overstretched people, low morale, productive people who are timid in front of others can get the short end of the stick, engineers made to wear too many hats, particularly when dealing outside their area of expertise, eagerness to punish people for honest mistakes rather than to work on avoiding them in the future. One's experience may vary by team.

Thanks for your comments – I agree wholeheartedly that Lucia are her team are amazing and that we’re making good progress at learning how to build with AI and build better AI products. I’m also proud of our engineers and their skills! I’m particularly sad to hear that you feel that honest mistakes are punished – my experience of our culture since I joined is that we are committed to learning and development, supporting everyone in our org through personal and professional challenges. If you’re comfortable reaching out to your director or myself about these concerns, I’d love to follow up and learn more. - Jeremy Ginsberg CPTO

Pros

Good culture. Generally good (but not great across the board) people to work with in engineering. Lots of interesting problems to solve, you've just to be willing to get involved.

Cons

Organisation structure can be siloed at times. Communication & stakeholder management between business units could improve. Alignment between Marketing, Sales & Engineering isn't great at times. Conflicting priorities (meeting release deadlines for marketing or supporting large sales deals).

Pros

The people really make this a great place to work. The office has a positive vibe, and the team is genuinely supportive of one another. Senior management, Alex and Dawid are approachable and care about the team. The commission structure is solid and gives you a real chance to earn well if you put in the effort.

Cons

One thing to keep in mind is how the sales team is set up right now. New starters can earn really well early on, which is a great incentive for attracting fresh talent, but it’s also led to experienced and senior team members moving on. Their knowledge is tough to replace, so finding a better balance and focusing more on keeping those tenured employees will be important for SC to really thrive long-term.

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. I’m so pleased to hear that the supportive culture, positive office vibe, and approachable leadership are making a meaningful difference in your experience at SafetyCulture. It's also great to know that the commission structure is helping to reward the effort and success of our sales team. I also really appreciate your insight on the current sales team structure. Striking the right balance between attracting new talent and retaining experienced team members is something the Sales leadership team and myself are actively focused on. Your perspective reinforces the importance of this, and we'll continue to look at ways we can strengthen long-term development and retention for our tenured team. Thanks again for being part of the journey and for helping us grow stronger together! Kind regards, Alexander Brooks-Sykes Head of GTM, UKIMEA

High drive workplace

Pros

- On site cooked lunch - Learning opportunities

Cons

- Forced on-call without pay - Difficult progression without making yourself "more visible". You can see not so technically skilled people get promoted to seniors by forcing themselves into 1-1s with management and doing many presentations about the relatively little work they did.

Thanks for providing some feedback here. The conversation about on-call pay is something we periodically review. Our ultimate goal is the engineers build solutions so that being interrupted via an alarm during an on-call roster is a rare thing - if this isn’t your case, please discuss this at the next operations review, or your next 1:1 with your People Leader. Technical execution does form part of the criteria for promotion, but more important is how the individual contributes to their team, engineering and the company goals. Please start a conversation with your People Leader. They will be able to discuss the specifics of your situation, or come seek me out. Regards, Tim Litton (CIO)

Poor leadership and unsafe culture

Pros

The provided daily lunch is a great benefit

Cons

Compensation: Salary packages are generally below market standards for the required level of expertise. Organizational Maturity: Leadership is often overly top-down, with limited opportunities for constructive peer feedback or challenging the status quo. Lack of Stability: Constant shifts in priorities and opaque headcount management have created an environment with very little psychological safety.

Pros

- company is scaling fast and uplifting so there’s a lot of opportunities to build or uplift features - free breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks - depending on team but most teams have good culture within them - just generally a fun place to work at

Cons

- some top management are a bit insensitive when it comes to things that have affected people
