      Good manager, Poor leadership at the top

      My direct manager was fantastic—supportive, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping me succeed. The team culture at the ground level was positive, and I felt like my immediate colleagues had each other’s backs.

      Unfortunately, upper leadership was a different story. I was let go by the founder just three weeks into the month for not hitting target—even though, as any salesperson knows, most deals typically close in the last week. It was a short-sighted decision that showed little understanding of the sales cycle. Sleek promotes "loyalty" as one of its core values, but the decision to fire someone mid-month with no warning or support is the definition of irony. There's a serious disconnect between the company’s stated values and how leadership actually behaves.

      We appreciate you sharing your perspective. However, the situation described does not accurately reflect the facts. The event referenced occurred in October 2023. The decision to end employment was made only after five weeks of no sales performance, despite a clear 20-day improvement plan and dedicated support from the direct manager. Qualified leads were consistently provided, and deals at Sleek typically close throughout the month - not just at the end - so the lack of results over a full month made continuation unsustainable. While your manager invested significant time and effort to help you succeed, unfortunately, performance did not improve to the required level. Sleek values loyalty and supports employees’ success wherever possible. However, as a growing company, we must ensure accountability and sustainable results to serve our clients effectively. Decisions like this are never made lightly and always follow a fair, performance-based process. We’re pleased to hear you’ve continued your career in sales and wish you success in your future endeavours.
