A company in ashes

Pros

Great people doing the work, competitive benefits, and some middle management willing to lend a hand.

Cons

Dated technology, C-Suite leaders appear to not understand the current product landscape, decisions are made without much thought or care for impact to employees, clients, et al. You have to threaten to leave to get raise, a title promotion or any consideration for either. The company has leaned so far into DEI that it has lost the plot when it comes to what the function of a business is. It then uses these initiatives as a measure of success, while clients churn and talent runs out the door. Layoffs are common and announced on EMEA time, which means North American Employees get to wake up to bad news about every six months. Oh, and they don't actually announce who is terminated, laid off, etc., you have to find out when that person doesn't show for a client call or internal sync - Super professional. There is more to share, but others have done that more eloquently than I can; just read the reviews that are not obviously written in house as a means to pad the rating.

Pros

-The people are nice -Good snacks in Chicago office -Good PTO and benefits

Cons

-The C-Suite is, in a word, a joke -No brand awareness -Compensation is way below market -This company has laid off 100+ employees in the past year. Right before Christmas too! Classy. People of color and LGBTQ+ employees have been impacted most by these layoffs. See previous reviews-they are accurate -Lack of diversity

Dear former Showpad employee, First of all thank you for investing in our people, product and company culture all during your years at Showpad. We appreciate you and your commitment. We are glad you enjoyed working at the Chicago office and appreciated the benefits provided to you. During the reduction in force in December 2022, we let go of less than 50 of our valued employees, and we did not have additional layoffs in May. We did reorganize our Marketing and BDR teams during that time period, which resulted in a limited number of role eliminations. As with any business operating during challenging economic times, we have made difficult decisions to ensure the job security of hundreds of employees and set us up for generational success in the years to come. At Showpad, we are committed to paying competitively. We’ve made consistent investments in market corrections and the majority of Showpadders are within our compensation ranges. We continue to proactively monitor our employee compensation to ensure we are paying competitively and are confident we do so. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive organization. We foster inclusion by truly embracing and celebrating our differences so we can unlock everyone’s full potential. We are proud to be an equal-opportunity employer whose mission is to build an inclusive culture where everyone belongs and embraces diverse perspectives. We also take a data- driven approach to improving our DEI efforts with our long-standing partner, Hollistic. We wish you nothing but the best, Showpad

Pros

Lovely team, both in London and HO in Ghent. Nice offices, so-so benefits, some good socials.

Cons

Been overtaken by the competition in product development Seen by most companies as a 'nice to have', not a 'must have' Very few industries see the need - tech, pharma, and maybe 1-2 others, and has to be companies of a certain size who have the assets to live on the platform. Seen so many good people come and go over the years, growth is pretty flat and so people leave to get up the career ladder

Don't fall for the promises

Pros

The individual contributors! I've met a great bunch of people there to learn from and have fun together, but most of them are suffering or leaving. The product! While it is a nice to have, companies will get great value out of it if they only understand how or who should do it. The vision of Sales Enablement (and the founders) is still alive and lives in this product!

Cons

Massive turnaround and unclear hiring decisions, especially on director level upwards. And then 12 months later people are let go again one day to the other and everything starts over again while ICs try to keep the ship running and on track. The performance review process is not existing. I had no personal goals throughout my employment, but it doesn't matter as there was no merit cycle anyways for quite a while. But "important" promotions were still done but not communicated to the company. You've learned from LinkedIn who was lucky. Unwanted people were let go regardless of performance or goal achievement anyways. Don't fall for the promises: don't join for something in the future! Chances are it won't come, the person who said that won't be there anymore or got overruled. You'll get higher or responsiblities but without the promotion to see "how you're doing" first. Benefits: there is a huge gap in benefits across the offices, maybe even intentionally to slowly dry out the regional offices or hubs. Customer proximity or local language isn't relevant anymore, centralization is key and english "good enough". No interest in personal growth. There is always a budget for personal growth mentioned, but whenever someone had an idea how to use that budget for his personal developement it was too expensive, not relevant, already used for some "team releated initiative" or it just took ages to come to a decision. The culture slowly died. Nowadays it's far away from being transparent, can do attitude and grow together. Many team leads and managers are inexperienced and just got up there due to tenure, relationships or elbows, creating an environment of micromanagement, mistrust and fear. Politics, especially between Europe and the US, is all present and people get blocked in progressing if they are on the wrong side of the pond. At the beginning it was a company with belgian roots and european mindset but it has become a wanna be US corporate for a very high price... the culture and the people.

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your experience at Showpad. We value your insights and take them seriously as we continually strive to improve our workplace environment and practices. We appreciate your recognition of the talented individuals and the potential of our product. The contributions of our team members and the vision behind our Sales Enablement solution are indeed central to our mission. However, we regret to hear about the challenges you've encountered, particularly regarding turnover, unclear hiring decisions, and the lack of a robust performance review process. We understand the importance of stability and clarity in leadership, as well as the need for transparent communication and a fair evaluation processes. While it’s true departments historically have approached performance reviews in their own way, in 2023, we introduced a company-wide performance enablement system of which we have had two cycles so far, with impressive participation from Showpadders at 98%. We will take your feedback into account as we further assess and refine our hiring and performance management practices. We have noted your comments about benefits, personal growth opportunities, and company culture. We are committed to ensuring equity and consistency across our offices and to providing meaningful opportunities for professional development. When comparing benefits packages across all our operating countries, it is important, however, to take into account the local differences in tax systems and employment law. These elements drive the development of our packages. We appreciate your advice to management and will carefully review our hiring processes and how we invest in our employees as we actively seek feedback to address any areas of concern. Your input is invaluable as we work towards creating a better workplace for all. Thank you again for sharing your feedback. We are committed to listening, learning, and taking action to create a positive and fulfilling experience for our employees at Showpad.

Pros

The people here are nice and caring. Decent benefits. If you're a white european man, you're going to THRIVE here. They'll even make up titles and departments just for you. Not apart of that group? You're screwed.

Cons

Leadership team. Compensation is WAY below market. This company has laid off HUNDREDS of employees in the past couple of years. Don't believe Showpad's "responses"-they're all massive BS.
