Pros

Anything good will soon be gone

Cons

Vector bought BigTinCan and laid the majority of engineering and offshored to India. There's never any mention of it in the town hall meetings where they pretend everything is an opportunity for employees. Next in line once the merger is complete is the Showpad employees. Vector will look for you. They will find you. And they WILL make your role redundant.

Pros

-I worked with very talented engineers -Flexible working environment -Decent salary for my experience at the time

Cons

-I was told I would be using AWS in my day to day work by the hiring team, but quickly realised that most infrastructure work is handled by a separate team. This was a shame and impacted my personal development. -Whilst preaching a lot about diversity, the team I worked in was the least diverse I have worked in since working in tech. -Working hours were listed in the contract as 9-6. I queried this before signing my contract, as I am used to 9-5 or 9-5:30. I was told that this would be flexible and at the end of the day no one would be clocking you in and out. This ended up being mostly true, but I don't appreciate the apparent support for the shift towards a longer working day, and certainly some people seemed to feel obliged to fulfil those hours. I'm back to 8 hours with 1 hour lunch break now and will never look back. -I was made redundant, along with many others, with absolutely no notice, right before Christmas - told one evening to not come into the office the next day. Whilst the severance package was more generous than it legally needed to be, this was a huge blow and unexpected. In hindsight I have legal concerns - according to UK law I am entitled to a consultation, which I never got. This was also a month or two after the senior leadership team were raving and giving pep talks on exciting new growth opportunities and ways of working. Crazy mixed messages - is the company thriving or not? Overall, whilst I had some good times with my team, I wouldn't recommend working here. Management seems inexperienced and unpredictable, and apparently can turn on you pretty quickly, and some of the culture is quite toxic.

Thank you for sharing your view. We are sorry your experience at Showpad leaves you with mixed feelings. We aim for transparency in our hiring process, and we also focus on creating a flexible and inclusive culture. It is our view that flexibility comes from both directions and diversity comes in many shapes and forms. Acknowledging the road still ahead for us, we are positive about our future in terms of product, growth, culture, and diversity actions we are taking along the way.
