Good and Bad

Pros

Good money if you can hack it, work from home, own hours, training provided

Cons

Really hard work for first 1-2 years. 100% comission. Outside sales, no leads provided. Encouraged to work 7 days a week, all hours, sacrifice lifestyle. Live the entrepreneur life essentially, which means constant hustle.

Pros

One of the biggest and only pros of working here is the flexibility — you can create your own schedule and work from the comfort of your home.

Cons

There are quite a few challenges with this company. Training is extremely minimal, leaving you unprepared and expected to figure things out on your own. Communication from management is poor and often contradictory. What was explained during the interview and onboarding didn’t align with the actual expectations or experience once the role began. You're limited to quoting and accessing your email through an iPad, which is not ideal for productivity. I was told I’d be working with an office close to home but was assigned to one over an hour away. As an Agency Coordinator, I was assured I wouldn’t be responsible for selling. However, after seven weeks, only one agent was ever added to my team — and that only happened after I repeatedly followed up via email asking what was going on. I was told there would be consistent agent placements each month, but that has not been the case. To this day, I haven’t received any additional team members, and I don’t expect to unless I recruit them myself — which, from what I understand, isn’t even allowed. The role is commission-based, but the structure doesn’t support your success unless you’re selling heavily yourself. The commission rate is low, and the override on your team (if you even have one) is worse.

Pros

Most people I worked with at Combined were very pleasant. Many people there have been working there for several years, so turnover for corporate is pretty low. Lots of learning and growth opportunities. Decent pay for the industry. I think experience can be subjective based on which department you are working under. Some departments are more defined and well-established than others.

Cons

They recently moved to a 4-day in-office requirement, which isn't really "hybrid," especially since you do not get to choose which day you're working remote. Many of my colleagues had to commute several hours per day given the location. Combined likes to pretend they have "small-company values," but they are very much appeasing Chubb's standards. I can see that the employees with longer tenure are getting frustrated because Combined is not what it used to be. Work/life balance is not great.

Pros

Flexible schedule but long hours to make any money. Can learn a lot about insurance.

Cons

When policies were cancelled you were charged back for them. Forced to do door to door insurance sales. Daily rah rah meetings every morning.

Pros

Good training, opportunity to make money, good sales incentives

Cons

Uses old leads. You basically recycle leads and call the same customers always trying to add more policies. When you first start training they are all about helping you. They help put money on your books. As soon as you are out of training if you don’t write business..they say it’s your fault and fire you for non-production. I found out I had been “let go at a client appointment when I tried to log into my iPad. I called IT in front of the customer and was told I had been let go for non-production. They didn’t even have the audacity to tell me. They expect you to work long hours and travel. They are constantly putting each team member up against the other.

Pros

If you are a natural entrepreneur, will work long hours, and great at getting others to change their mind, you can make money. But commission rates only go up when you make benchmarks quarterly. Must renew them.

Cons

Managers create unfavorable work conditions. Do not buy hype, it is just about sales.
