Once promising studio got crippled during its attempt to scale up

Pros

- They always play by the law. So it is very unlikely that they will do something wrong to you legally. - They offers many benefits that you won't get (at least all at once) in vietnam's market. - it's a good career starting point. They have huge global resources to learn from, and it looks good on your portfolio. You don't have a lot of chance to work on games of that scale in vietnam's game industry. - it's not as cutthroat as other companies. - Most people there are nice and they have a good culture. - You dont need to worry much if you are from LGBT community, as you will be welcomed and treated normally by most people. Misogyny is not a problem there too. Those who don't got drowned and will likely not show on your face because they are the minority. - Has very flexible working hour and work from home policy, which suits people with family and those who want to take freelance jobs.

Cons

- The base salary is on the lower side of the market. The trade-off is that the jobs are more specialized, - In recent years, due to competitive cost, this studio has the chance to grow and scale up. However, it is met with some problems: + Complexity in budgeting, want to find great talent to expand but doesnt have the money + Old teams and employees got shafted in favor of new talents (especially expats) + Management side are not ready for a scale up + Lots of Inefficiency and incompetency issues + There are multiple factions - If you dislike Gen AI, the manager side in this studio tries to push the AI agenda despite HQ legal team's warning about legal risk and multiple failure from past implementation attempts. - There is a pressure to deliver good revenue while having less people, a.k.a "lean team". - If you are a programmer, depending on the project you will need to OT a few times per week. But the company itself doesn't encourage OT and prefers you to complete your job within standard working hour.

Salary is lower than industry standars

Pros

cool games and talented people

Cons

It’s fine to start in an entry-level role to break into the industry, but as you move on, climbing to senior positions becomes tougher (especially for women) and the pay often lags behind the workload, with most people handling two or three roles at once

Management Claims Credit, Employees Take the Blame

Pros

The teamwork is excellent, but the management is failing.

Cons

When there is low office performance caused by poor management, the subordinates are the ones who get sacrificed. Management will take their team’s work, claim it as their own, and remove the people who actually perform well. They will always try to save themselves, and HR often protects them, creating a kind of management dynasty that keeps the same people in power regardless of merit. The back-and-forth progression becomes a complete disaster because everyone is busy claiming credit instead of solving the real problems. As a result, when a compelling idea emerges, everyone rushes to contribute, which only prolongs execution due to the constant back-and-forth.
