The Computing Services Centre (CSC) at City University of Hong Kong manages the University’s Information Technology infrastructure and services covering Data Centre Operations, Cloud and System Hosting, Research Computing and High-Performance Computing, Communication and Networking, Workspace and Audio-Visual Technologies, and other related IT functions to support the University’s operations.
- Install, configure, administer and maintain Microsoft Windows Servers, Remote Desktop Gateway as well as Central file-sharing services;
- Coordinate the setup and review of server/network firewall rules with service owners and users for all supported servers and services;
- Regularly review the system diagrams of all supported Windows servers and services to ensure high availability and resiliency;
- Regularly review the system and network security of all supported Windows servers and services regularly against vulnerabilities and malicious activities;
- Provide technical assistance and consultation on the installation and configuration of Microsoft products and third-party applications in Windows servers;
- Coordinate with stakeholders to provide post-installation support for all supported servers and services, include applying security patches and upgrading OS/Services;
- Handle daily service requests from end-users;
- Carry out technology exploration and evaluation as assigned; and
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- An Associate Degree/Higher Diploma in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Information Technology or related disciplines, with at least 2 years of post-qualification working experience;
- Solid experience in installing, configuring and administering Windows server, Windows server roles and features, Microsoft products and third-party applications in Windows;
- Good knowledge of Windows servers, file systems, and network protocols in Microsoft Active Directory environment;
- Knowledge of networking principles (including routing, subnets, TCP/IP, VLANs, VPN, etc.), as well as PowerShell and VB scripting languages;
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining a keen eye for details;
- Ability to communicate with users in different disciplines;
- Being proactive, eager to learn, and well-organised with a strong sense of responsibility;
- Strong analytical, good interpersonal, and communication skills;
- Adaptability to change, ability to work independently and as a team under pressure; and
- Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua) are required.
- Microsoft Certification (e.g. Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate AZ-800) or related training; and
- Knowledge of Veeam backup and load balancer would be an advantage.
Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
