Pros

- Worked with a great team, without them I wouldn’t have lasted this long - Ok Christmas do - Develop tougher skin working there

Cons

- No salary reviews, colleagues had to fight for pay increases - Unhelpful culture, ask for help from other teams they don’t care - Directors will push you to do tasks beyond your remit and if you refuse they’ll accuse you of not being a team player - Constant gossiping about people who left the company years ago - For an IT company they will give you bad equipment - Lots of criticism, point this out they’ll praise you, then go back to belittling you a week later

Thank you for your review. I'm saddened to see your cons list is longer than your pros list. Obviously we want our employees to enjoy their career at Probrand, so please feel free to reach out to me directly and we can discuss your points in more detail if you wish. I'm happy to summarise a few points but would definitely welcome a more indepth chat so we can make improvements and shrink the cons list! Thank you for acknowledging the great teams we have within the business. We work hard to recruit and retain the best talent and feel we have developed a great working culture over recent years. Ha, yes some of our Xmas Do's have been legendary too! :-) A number of years ago, we implemented a pay review process where salaries are reviewed each year. The reviews are based on a number of factors including employee performance, company performance and we benchmark salaries against the industry. As mentioned above, we have worked hard on our culture, getting feedback and input from employees at all levels and are pleased that we have made huge steps in improving life at Probrand. Training and development has been a prioroty for us this year and we have invested heavily in training courses at all levels. This will be an ongoing focus for us as we understand how important growth and development is. We take all feedback seriously and will of course discuss your points internally, thanks again for your review.

Pros

- Nice culture (everyone gets on and its the sort of place I feel comfortable being myself - not too corporate. - Social areas are good - a new social area was launched recently with table tennis, foosball tables and there's talk of a pool table coming soon.. - Good Manager - Neill and Eugene are good guys. No micro-management.

Cons

- Office is a bit old fashioned - feel like it needs a refresher. There is talk of a move happening next year though. - Again office location - would be nicer if we had more variety for lunches. We only get 45 minutes for lunch so this can go really fast if you are trekking up to Tesco's. - Negative members of staff - it doesn't surprise me that there's a few negative reviews on here. People have stayed for far too long in the business and become spiteful by the end of it. I've noticed a significant change in the atmosphere since new people have started.

Toxic culture

Business outlook

Pros

I had a great team around me and made some friends for life. The majority have moved on now and thankfully found success and progression elsewhere.

Cons

The main issue at Probrand is the toxic culture. Toxic work cultures make going to work feel miserable. People can’t make decisions - even the simple purchase of a peripheral requires director sign off. There is no trust. Working from home is assumed to be a way of skiving. Management doesn’t allow people to work from home because they want to watch people. “MANAGEMENT vs. US” culture Micro-management is rife Judging people by when they start work and how late they work. Managers watching clocks so don’t be late or you may have to sneak in the side entrance. People that are given extra privileges for enforcing the leaderships toxic culture and talking behind people’s backs in order to gain something. Management talking down to people regularly, some people a victim of this more than others which in my opinion constitutes as bullying. Shaming low performance When people decide to leave or mention they are thinking of leaving, they are talked about as traitors. Once they are gone they are repeatedly blamed for ongoing issues. This means remaining management don’t have to take responsibility. Asking staff to write positive reviews online to cover up the toxicity. It’s amazing that they would rather attempt to cover things up than to address the issues and make things better, but to do this would mean admitting fault. Values are spoken of rarely and mean nothing. They are just words and fluff to tick a box for HR. No personal phones allowed on desks or in use in the office They once made a rule that all the guys had to be clean shaven!! Makes me laugh as I type this! Unbelievable.

Hi, Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review for us. I’m really pleased you worked in a great team and build up strong relationships with your colleagues. 10 years is a great length of time to be with us, so thank you for your service! As you know we have worked extremely hard over the last 2 years to improve our culture – including holding staff workshops to ensure we are getting it right. We base appraisals and our regular employee awards around our new values to embed them into the Company. I am sorry to hear you feel there is a lack of trust. We have an open door policy and are constantly looking to build trusted relationships with our teams and further to your comments on home working, many employees have applied for flexible working (both formally and informally) which have been granted. Probrand appreciate how important a good work life balance is and we endeavour to accommodate such requests wherever possible (however, whatever the agreed working arrangement, we do like our employees to start work on time – so no one should have to ‘sneak in the side entrance’ 😊). Just to confirm, there is no rule about having to be clean shaven 😉 all we ask is that our employees adhere to simple hygiene basics and are presentable and professional when they visit our customers. I am sorry you did not raise these issues whilst you were still in employment, however we really appreciate your feedback.

Pros

One of the main things that stands out for me, is support from day one, but also professionalism and respect on all levels within my team. Diversity is valued as a positive and I feel included. If you show a great work ethic and alignment with the company values, you'll be on a path to growth and success.

Cons

Lack of communication between teams, which is something that's being worked on.

Pros

Occasional pizza days when vendors arrive

Cons

Micro management is a very big problem with working here. There is a lack of trust between managers and their subordinates. If you can't trust your staff, what was the point of hiring them to begin with. Toxic Culture: The majority of staff are fine, but there a few individuals (who won't be named) are incredibly childish and toxic to be around. All it takes is a handful of people to ruin the moral of the team. This tends to be a theme (people who have worked there for a considerable period of time). Gossiping is another issue working here. Some staff are nice to your face, but are very quick to insult you behind your back or spread rumours about you or other people, if your face doesn't fit. Job Satisfaction: It might seem exciting to begin with, but you will drown in the sea of repetitiveness after a while. The list goes on, but hopefully you've come to a decision.

Hi! Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. All of your feedback is appreciated and obviously useful in suporting improvements going forward. Yes, the pizza is amazing!! But that's not all that's amazing :-) We have fully immersed ourselves into the flexible working culture, allowing home working but it's great we can all get into the office for training/meetings when necessary. Our revised career paths and training and development plans are well underway and we are seeing great progressions within the teams already. This will help to refticy your point with regards to job satisfaction. We want our employees to enjoy their career here and be able to develop and grow. Our new systems are also helping this happen which is great news. I'm sorry you felt you were micro managed, this is not a management style we support. Obviously if employees are struggling, our managers are on hand to provide extra support when needed. With the roll out of home working, our managers fully trust their teams to work to the best of their ability whilst having the option to come into the office if needed. As metioned in previous responses, we have worked really hard on our culture which has improved dramatically (and with the ever changing world, our culture is constantly improving too). Through social and work related activites, our teams work together fantastically and relationships between colleagues has gone from strength to strength. We are not aware of rumours spreading or gossiping as it's definitely something we do not tolerate. If you have any specific examples you would like me to investigate, please do get in touch for a further discussion. Thanks again for your review and we wish you all the best in your new role.

Pros

i have worked at Probrand for just under 10 years. the culture has changed over this period especially for the last 5-6 years with a large emphasis on working as a team but allowing individuals to be creative (some have even created their own job roles).Never worked anywhere were everybody helps out and wants you to succeed and provides you with all the training you want. Also Probrand loves to build relationship with vendors and encourages staff to do so also which always helps with getting on with the job.

Cons

45 min lunch but working from home helps with that also we are encouraged to step away from our desks for 5-10 mins every so often to stretch our legs.

Thanks for taking the time to post a review :-) Yes, the culture has most definitely changed for the better over the last few years, and we are committed to ensure that this continually improves! A lot of time goes into building a strong, close team and we are very lucky to have such great team members that can make this happen! Thanks for your comment with regards to lunch times - duly noted. Look out for a new health and wellbeing app being launched in the very near future which will definitely get you moving....!
