Pros

Back office- go back office do NOT go branch unless you want to be burnt out and mistreated

Cons

Management at certain branches- you will occasionally get the good branch managers who you will LOVE working with because they genuinely care about you doing well. Majority of branch managers are catty, talk badly about one another and their associates who work for them- a lot are too young to even be good management because they are still immature and openly talk about the staff at the branch and make inappropriate announcements to humiliate staff to other associates. If you worked with a regional manager before you will get away with mistreating your staff. Gallup surveys while anonymous you are still told by management what to answer for good scores or you’ll be punished with more side tasks to burn the entire branch staff out. Management will only take members who are good candidates for QKAs and this will take floor staff numbers they need to meet monthly.

Pros

I have never worked for another credit union/bank, so It is a little hard to compare. However, pay is good. Training is excellent. Awesome benefits, most people are professional and nice.

Cons

There are some horrible branch managers, lots of them are completely unprofessional.

Pros

Federal holidays + ok starting time off & better 401k matching than it used to be. Some really experienced employees really care & will help you with problems Have done an extra bonus the last couple of years to help out with expenses a little New CIO is trying doesn't support regular associates enough, but significant improvement over previous head Some jobs have obvious career progression & some managers will actually help you try to improve your abilities and get promotions

Cons

Some managers don't care about your contributions unless it makes them more visible Pay is not competitive for many jobs in IT, and getting a "good" eval may still mean a lousy raise Management gets significantly higher percentage bonuses than normal staff No reimbursement for mileage or internet costs Allowed teams to say they wanted work from home & promised it would be honored and already are going back on this promise. Very easy for managers to get promotions (able to go from manager to AVP to VP in not that many years if you kiss up enough), very difficult for others, and seniority and actual ability are not a factor Certain VPs in IT impede any work and cause issues across the department, and head of lending attempts to control everything that IT does, blames IT for delays when theyre busy putting out fires that were caused by not being involved in the first place Too much politics in who is considered a leader, the noisy ones who aren't that capable tend to get more worms. Upper management somehow is close to 10% of employees HR ignores complaints and says that everything is great, tried to cut payscales and tell us that it hadn't been cut

Pros

The people and benefits are great. Lots of work and always busy.

Cons

Weak management team that doesn’t want to provide guidance and makes the workers guess at what they want. Bad managers stick around forever it seems.

Pros

There are no pros to working here

Cons

This place will suck the life out of you. They promote managers and high ups based on butt kissing and not actual skill and qualifications. Managers have no education or managerial experience. They like to bully and harass associates that they can’t walk all over. Sales goals are unrealistic and the “incentives” you receive are not worth it. They will work you 10-11 hours a day while management pretty much gets to make their own hours and come and go as you please leaving the branch in shambles. They talk and treat employees like children in a daycare and try to write employees who do not butt kiss up for any little thing. They border the line of illegal activity as well. Not having associates sign write ups or occurrences and give these out without the associate on the receiving end having any knowledge.

Pros

Great retirement contribution matching, friendly coworkers/managers, learning opportunities, annual performance incentive, salary is standard

Cons

Lack of consistency among expectations from branch to branch and among departments. A lot of changes happen during short periods of time and can be challenging to adjust to/enforce. Culture and integrity has always been important at Members 1st, but it appears it’s gradually becoming less important as the company grows. PTO package is less than most competing financial institutions.
