Pros

It has a great cafeteria and many great employees... except the leadership team.

Cons

Leadership failed to take ownership of an erroneous forecast driven by greed. Ultimately, after assuring employees that there would be no layoffs, they deceived them and carried out a poorly executed layoff. Employees with years of service were terminated, but Shaq and Shakira were kept on the payroll.

Pros

Good people. Good but rapidly declining corporate culture. Strong IT team that is overworked but willing to work with you as a true partner. Creative marcomm team that gets a lot done given the resources they have. Strong channel relationships and generally well-thought of in the industry.

Cons

I understand that many companies have been going through layoffs and I have been through layoffs in the past at other companies. Epson lost a lot of credibility when the CEO said in an all-employee meeting that there would be no layoffs, and then weeks later instituted a very poorly executed and communicated layoff process. Even our VPs did not know the full extent of actions taken after all of the layoffs were supposed completed. There has been no communication regarding the future of the company. Stale back office teams that are stuck in the past and don't want to change - sales operations, finance in particular. Not enough sales and marketing support from Japan and they are too slow with everything from product development to support.

Pros

I had the pleasure of working at Epson America for over 10 years in an administrative position, and I confidently say that it's a great company to be a part of, or was many years ago. The culture is welcoming, and I built strong relationships with many colleagues along the way. Epson has invested significantly in its facilities, including the free EV charging stations for the large amount of Teslas in the parking lot, the Epson Cafe with a delicious and affordable menu. It's a lovely environment to work in.

Cons

Unfortunately, it's important to note that opportunities for career advancement can be limited. If you're looking to move up or earn more, you might as well find yourself another job. Epson primarily recruits externally for higher-level positions, often requiring advanced degrees. This can make growth challenging for those who have dedicated many years to the company. One of the most concerning trends right now is the large amount of layoffs predominantly to long-term employees particularly older staff members. It seems there's a preference for younger talent. They run you very lean so you are mostly overwhelmed with work.

Thank you for your thoughtful and extensive review. We are glad to hear that you had such a love for the company culture and built such great relationships while apart of the Epson family. Epson values its workforce and invests heavily in career development through mentoring, training, and networking opportunities. While the pace of career advancement may vary, the company's long-term employee tenure indicates the success of these investments. Best of luck in your future endeavors!

Pros

Health insurance and other benefits

Cons

No chance for advancement, all upper management jobs are hired outside the company. Yearly layoffs, no warning, of the people who have been there longer, then they hire someone else at a lower salary.

Pros

My team was great to work with. Decent benefits.

Cons

Tight deadlines and everything revolves around product launches so it’s hard to plan time off. They have also been doing mass layoffs recently.
