Pros

If you love your city, it can be very fun. Remote work is helpful and you'll make great relationships with fellow community managers, who are typically wonderful people.

Cons

As others have said, upper management is extremely out of touch with reality, including the realities of small businesses post-COVID. Pay is very under market for the level of work. Values are consistently preached but only selectively honored.

Thanks for sharing your experience after spending so many years on our team. We agree that connecting with your city and working alongside wonderful fellow Community Managers are some of the best parts of the role. We're also glad remote work was helpful for you. Favoritism and gossip don't align with the environment we want to create. We want everyone to feel valued and supported as a person. We also want to uplift team members who want to explore roles in other departments. We have many amazing opportunities across Yelp, and we encourage people to pursue the work they care about most. Your feedback helps us grow, and we will share your notes with our leadership team so we can keep making Yelp a better place to work. Thanks for all your hard work over the years, and we wish you the very best in your next role.

Pros

Work from home (not really remote because your manager will be breathing down your neck every 6th minute the phone is not ringing.) Greta benefits and PTO

Cons

Complicated commission structure, manager must like you or you will be fired for almost any reason, constant cold calling overworked accounts, my entire team turned over before the end of year one, a mental prison for not nearly the amount of comp they promise to pay you. The amount of mental exhaustion selling a product that ends up getting canceled on within the first week or month of selling it does not give you in confidence in what you are selling. Anticipate the pushiest sales position you’ve ever experienced. Many virtual meetings with cameras on and brainwashing you into their system. Go watch “The Billion Dollar Bully” documentary before considering the position
