Pros

There are some awesome people working across the Bank that are great to work with. The pay is good and so are the benefits. The Bank is also doing great things in the community, especially during the pandemic.

Cons

Some executives operate much like a high school popularity hierarchy spreading gossip about other people and creating a culture of competition, fear, and distrust. People are promoted to leadership positions with little to no leadership competencies resulting in many toxic hotspots across the organization. Toxic bosses are valued because they get results. Executives say they care about mental health yet pile on work and increase expectations while not considering the pandemic, working from home and family-life. Many people are feeling burnt out and morale is low as they are letting people go all across the Bank. Many colleagues who have worked for other FIs say Scotia is the worst for work/life balance. People are over capacity and still being asked to stretch themselves. While they've made some good strides in advancing more Women to higher level roles (VP+), most of these Women are White and there is hardly any representation of diverse backgrounds on the Executive team or Board with the majority being White Straight Cis Men.
