Pros
SAP is changing to a cloud based company and have made several acquisitions over the past couple of years. They have great products and a solid strategy for the future, however they need to improve on execution. Compensation and benefit are competitive and given all mentioned so far, should be a great place to work.
Cons
Unfortunately this is not the case for SAP Canada as it has a punitive, demoralizing and individualistic culture. Recently in a town hall meeting, the MD acknowledged that there is a personnel problem as so many people are leaving the company (even with tenures such as 18 years) as of late. Rather than look into the problem, his statement was "we have hired great management lately" which is not the root of the issue. SAP does not have a hiring problem, they have a retention problem. People are leaving for good reasons, so take the time to understand why. SAP does not do any exit interviews and all the leaving employees are required to complete is one online survey question with a multiple choice response as to why they are leaving. People are recognized for the wrong behavior and are promoted for equally inappropriate reasons. A top sales professional does not necessarily make a great manager or leader, in fact the culture is so individualistic that there is a lack of teamwork. I have seen people abused in sales meetings, expected to perform without any coaching or guidance and thrown out from the company after less than a year.
