Pros
- Effort to emphasize work-life balance (but sometimes, it's just unrealistic to have that when the workload and deadline demand 80+ hours a week) - Ok culture for the most part, depending on teams, projects, and managers. - Leadership cares about employees and have always been aware to offer resources regarding what has been going on in the world (Covid, Black Lives Matter, Diversity and Inclusion, etc.) - Vacation days and other benefits are just average. Don't expect too much.
Cons
- Your experience working here is completely dependent upon the team that you get placed under. The company is SO BIG and attracts many different personalities, so it's a luck game to begin with. - The firm has been putting a HUGE emphasis on changeability since Covid starts in order to avoid layoffs, so expect a "growing pressure" on your working hour and productivity. Your weekly timesheet is being watched and scrutinized closely. - Staffs on some team are really miserable and overworked, while some are genuinely happy with their experiences (good luck rolling the dice as I have experienced both during my time here) - Partners and Senior Managers are approachable for the most part, or at least they try to be. I always appreciate the ones who are open-minded, care, and listen to what junior employees have to say, but not all is like that though. - Under certain teams, you are expected to work A LOT. From time to time, you will find yourself working from 9 AM to 3 AM of the next day for weeks and there is nothing you can do about it. - Some managers only get promoted based on their tenure, not their true capabilities or leadership potential. Sadly, people are not guaranteed to always be of high caliber here. Life will suck if you end up working under this type of managers, so watch out. - BELOW MARKET PAY! No performance-based bonus this year due to covid. Promotional raise is also expected to be very low this year. - For the most part, people are willing to help you grow, learn, and improve. EY is definitely known for its "hand-holding culture" compared to the rest of the world. But occasionally, you will come across those condescending bad eggs and it's a total pain to be working with them.
