Worst job you can have
Pros
The analyst team is nice. Plus you can leave early since all the supervisors work earlier hours.
Cons
Warning: Do not settle or work for AR if you are an aspiring accountant, especially at Dorman. Definitely the worst job you can have. The job itself is monotonous, involves cold calling people, and does not develop any real skills. If you are a college student or grad, do not settle for this role, it's a dead-end. The first con about the job is they will lie to you about work from home. Despite it being listed on the job application and discussed in the hiring process, they will quickly change the parameters to “earning” hybrid and they will give you no time period for when it starts. They'll first say it's after you finish your training, but then it's when they feel comfortable letting you, which could take months, if ever. So despite getting promised hybrid, it is not actually part of the job. Speaking of training, there is no formal training. Your training consists of you asking the questions. So when you start you will be given all the work, and you have to ask the questions when you have them. That’s their training. And if you're wondering "what if I don’t know what to ask” well then you won’t find out until you make a mistake. Unfortunately it will be on you so don’t expect 3-6 month transition to get used to the role, it will be about a few days. The other con is the "boss". The supervisor is a micromanaging control freak. She will time your breaks, criticize you, and stare in your cubicle to make sure you’re working. If you want to spread your legs out after sitting for a while and go for a short walk, you can't, but your boss can go on 15 minute smoke breaks. Despite the position being salaried, don’t expect to be treated like a professional in a salaried position who doesn’t need to clock in and out. Not going over your 30 minute break matters way more than the actual (boring) work you did. This is not a results-based supervisor. If you make a mistake, she will immediately email the director. No questions, and not making sure you are okay, if it appeared you made a mistake (whether or not you actually did) she will run to the director because that’s the kind of unprofessionalism you will get with this boss. The supervisor will gossip around the office, talk badly about her coworkers and the company, all to compensate for the fact she is a single, divorced woman who spends her life in AR collections. Again, if you are an accountant looking for a job, stick out the job search and look elsewhere. Dead-end job, no skills, and a horrible boss.
