      Everything Everywhere All At Once

      Pros

      Amazing culture, brand new office, standard tech benefits, and product. Sam Zales is inspiring, personable, and a real leader in a sea of cooperate shells.

      Cons

      Insane workload, cult-mentality, no room for growth, toxic favoritism, management is incapable of receiving constructive feedback on anything. Products/initiatives often roll out incomplete, even after rounds of feedback. Unclear goals for teams, and those goals can change at the drop of a hat. Be cautious of Vp and Director level managers on the Customer Success side of the business. There’s also very little opportunity for growth.

      Pros

      The company was on a fast and aggressive growth track for a number of years. The people are fantastic and the perks of going on site are top notch. Growth opportunities were frequent as the company was growing so quickly.

      Cons

      The focus on employees and coaching is not where it needs to be for a company this size. Managers and leaders don't have much say or oversight into people related matters as many decisions are made in a vacuum.

      Supportive Sales Culture with Real Growth Potential

      Pros

      One of the best parts about working here is the strong support within the sales team. People are motivated and competitive, but not in a cutthroat way. Everyone is genuinely invested in each other’s success, which helps reps consistently hit their quotas, which isn’t always the case in sales. The team also does a great job of recognizing top performers each month, which keeps morale high. On top of that, there are real opportunities for career growth, with a solid number of promotions happening each year,

      Cons

      cycle brings great energy and the feeling of “fresh starts,” but it also means the pressure to hit targets is always present. That said, the team’s collaboration and camaraderie make it much more manageable, and even fun at times.

      Amazing Place to Work

      CarGurus has an amazing culture - full of kind, hardworking folks who want to help each other succeed as well as the company succeed. The leadership team is transparent about business updates and future growth opportunities and keep the teams informed about any changes. There is also optimal promotional growth opportunities that help keep our retention rates up.

      Cons

      As we continue to grow and scale, we are at a pivotal stage in which we are trying to implement new processes and procedures that can be a bit tedious. There are also some VPs/managers who could improve their communication with team updates/changes.

      Poor Manager Experience

      Pros

      Great benefits (lots of additional benefits if you are hybrid and going into the office), Executive leadership relatively down to earth

      Cons

      Poor training for new managers leading to bad experience as a direct report, lack of feedback, lack of transparency in the performance review cycle, lack of development and growth opportunities for supporting functions, questionable culture from certain people (heard jokes about layoffs, performance, and other sensitive employee topics in the office)

      -Strong exposure to enterprise IT environments, tools, and processes. -Good collaboration with peers across IT teams. -Solid experience handling Tier 1/2 support, AV, onboarding/offboarding, and ticketing at scale. -Well-known company with good resume value.

      Cons

      -Growth opportunities for contractors felt limited and slow, with unclear timelines around conversion. -Advancement into higher-level IT roles appeared heavily gated and not always aligned with demonstrated capability. -Limited ownership or autonomy for motivated contractors looking to take on more responsibility. -Communication around career progression could feel vague or non-committal.
