50% positive business outlook
Pros
Great Co-workers. Great work environment.
Cons
Somewhat moderately diversified project portfolio
Pros
• Some colleagues are supportive and collaborative • Opportunity to work on public projects • Occasional flexibility in remote work • Exposure to various project phases • Solid benefits for full-time employees
Cons
• Poor project management and unclear expectations • Lack of leadership accountability • Unfair performance evaluations despite high workload • Micromanagement without proper support • Repeated burnout due to last-minute deadlines
Pros
People were easy to work with and managers were fair and understanding. They have a good variety of projects. The firm is growing both organically and through acquisitions. This is always good to hear for employees because it offers more opportunity and stability.
Cons
Pay is average for a firm of this size. Nothing special about the firm for the industry. They started cutting some portions of paid overtime for salary exempt employees and tried to sell it as industry standard (although not sure it is when weighing the rest of their benefits package). In 2019 they changed their vacation policy (amount of days accrued) so that it took longer to get more days unless you were high up in the management chain. This is all due to the ownership structure. The firm is owned by First Reserve and is not employee-owned. Engineers working at a more employee-focused (e.g. employee owned) firm would get better pay and benefits.
Pros
Great management, visible upward mobility, good benefits and great work environment overall.
Cons
Possibility to work in extreme weather conditions and chance to work impromptu extra time due to storm events (usually have the choice to participate though)
Pros
- Strong culture with engaging work environment - Great onboarding process - Highly technical and talented teams - Location flexibility -- WFH / Remote options
Cons
There have not been any downsides to date
Pros
There is very little work drama which is definitely a plus. The people are for the most part very nice.
Cons
Even though people are nice it is a very clicky work environment and if you aren’t part of a group it is very easy to feel left out and alone.
Pros
Good work environment and people
Cons
Path of professional development can be unclear and sometimes being part of a large company can create a lot of hoops, but those are pretty much my only complaints
Pros
Team members, professionalism, benefits and
Cons
Should introduce more PTOs and professional development training
Pros
Awesome work environment, and great teammates
Cons
High billable time requirements for low level env. Not even enough time for 1 1-hour meeting a week per year to maintain utilization.
Pros
CHA has a lot of potential in project growth and relational growth with its clients. It’s nice to work in an environment that is looking to grow both in doing bigger and more interesting projects but also in investing new technology and approaches to work.
Cons
Both upper and mid level management struggle at times to really make the working bee level employee feel valued.
