      Flight Attendant Interview

      2 Feb 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Newark, NJ
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at United Airlines (Newark, NJ) in Jan 2016

      Interview

I applied online 01/08 Video Interview 1/11 Email for face to face 1/15 Face to Face 1/28 I interviewed at the Newark Airport training center. The day began about 8:45am (They say 9 but the attendants came and got us around 8:45) We were then escorted to the united training center as a group and brought to a classroom. In the classroom they showed us a video of what it's like to work for UA, followed by a brief powerpoint presentation that we went over with one of the flight attendants. They then asked if we had any questions (we had several). Get all your questions out then and there. If they don't have an answer they will go and find the answer for you. After that we were told to just sit tight and they would begin calling us in to interviews 1 by 1. While we were waiting we all got to know each other. This definitely helps with the nerves because everyone was able to calm each other down lol. The first interview is with one of the flight attendants. They pretty much ask any questions they have about your resume and then some situational questions like "I'm a passenger on board that still has my laptop out and its almost time for takeoff, what do you do?". They then have you read a part of the actual flight attendant announcement to ensure you're able to speak clearly and slowly. If that first attendant likes you she will pass you along to the director on in-flight recruiting. So you are then placed in another room to begin the waiting game again. Not everyone will get to this point. If you do no not make it to the second interview its pretty safe to say it's gonna be a no. 14 people left the initial room before me and only 6 were in the secondary room. From there you are called again into a conference room to meet with the directors. They ask more questions about your resume and whether you are ready mentally/physically/financially for the reserve life. They also want to know why your past work experience qualifies you for this FA life. They then went out of the room to talk amongst each other. When they come back in the room they will either give you the "we'll email you in a couple days" or "We'd like to offer you the job right here on the spot. If you accept the job they then take your passport (if you have it) and give you some paperwork to complete. After the paperwork you go and do your physical exam (urine, vision, hearing and ear pressure). Then you head back to the terminal to catch your flight home. I have read about some people who were told they would email you after the 2nd interview and they were offered the CJO through email. It happens but it is rare. I was offered and accepted the CJO!
