Interview
I found the position on Totaljobs and was redirected to the company website for the application. I was called by the HR department and offered a face to face interview. At the interview two very kind employees, one the department manager the other lead technician put me at my ease immediately.
The questions were average and exactly what I expected after researching the company. The first part of the interview was very personality orientated, with questions like my attitude in a team and how I would see myself working long hours in a lab.
The second part was more technical and I was asked specific questions about my experience with microbiology. During the whole time, my answers were recorded in wirting.
I was told I would be contacted again by the end of the following week, but I wasnt.
I gave them a call, and spoke again to the person in HR who had offered me the interview in the first place.
I was told that no constructive feedback had been written and it may just be that they had found a stronger candidate, perhaps with more experience. Unfortunately this explanation is very general, and I had the feeling - given the salary and working conditions - that they were not looking for somebody with more experience at all. I have much more marketable and academic experience than the job description and the proposed salary was for. The fact of not getting constructive feedback and not even receiving a formal rejection was very frustrating.
I had to fill out a long, detailed medical questionnaire before the interview. There were questions regarding medications taken for mental health. Even though I felt it was a risk, I decided to be open and disclose that I was taking medication. Even though it did not impair my ability to perform in the role, in the interview my disclosure led to several judgemental remarks.
short period between 30 minutes. mostly they ask about experience from previously (internship etc.) and some scenario questions. dress formal and be there early. otherwise, interviewers are friendly and explain everything in detailed.

Interview
Overall, the interview questions for this role were fairly simple, quick and short. They asked questions like what my biggest strengths and weaknesses were, and what skills I was looking to gain from this role.
