Between application and first contact for an interview, there was about 2 and a half months, which the manager explained away as being too busy to organise interviews. When I met and had the interview, I was essentially told that I had the job but they had to look at the other candidates as protocol. The interviewers (male and female) referred to my questions as "when I start" etc as opposed to "If you were successful..." I was advised I would hear back within the week which was a relief, as they were made aware that I was interviewed by others. Over 2 weeks later and I still hadn't heard from them despite me following up a few times. I finally heard from them via a short email that read that they had gone with someone else. No phone call or other explanation. To rub salt in the wound, over a month later I received an automated rejection email. In hindsight, I think it worked out for the best as I recall one of the interview questions referring to an employee in the team as being unruly and rude and asking how I would work around her...
