What is the hiring process like at Eversource Energy?

Good pay - however pay was offset by off-hours mandatory storm duty requirements.

Leadership condescending and unapproachable. You will constantly be tested for your corporate loyalty - your accomplishments will be discounted if loyalty is not properly met. Big population of long-term 'yes' employees; insulated from dynamic thinking and consequences. You will carry their load. Undisclosed random drug tests for employees during the hiring process - why not be transparent on this issue?

Pay .that is the only thing left that is holding majority of employees.

Company fails to recognize how hiring managers that flat out harass employees kills morale. No union employee wants to work under these managers and it has been reported to HR and HR victim shames the employees and doesn’t even address the manager. Far from what Eversource preaches .

I've heard a lot about terrible hiring experiences among my friends in some other companies but my hiring experience at Eversource has been an amazing experience. From the interview stage, to the final onboarding, it has been a totally wonderful and employee-centric process. Thank God!

Quick turn around from initial application to accepting an offer. Just under 2 months which might seem like a long time, but I honestly thought it was going to be longer. HR had a meeting with other new hires on my second day of employment to review benefits which was very helpful! The recruiter also was wonderful at answering any questions that I had from offer acceptance right up until the Friday before my start date.

The onboarding process was very comprehensive and efficient. Communication was proactive prior to start date. The Eversource HR team does a wonderful job of getting new employees prepared for start.

This a great job if you want to do work of almost no value at an just good enough pay. Work-life balance is great because you can always not care about the job with zero repercussions whatsoever. On a serious note, the recruiting is very good. The entry level to senior contributors can include some pretty good people which demonstrates that managers are capable of hiring talent. Unfortunately they’re usually off to better organizations but at least they were here for a bit, right? There's also some seeds of good managers in a field of awful ones. I can think of 1 or 2 that are pretty good which is pretty good out of hundreds of awful ones.

99% of managers and directors destroy all aspects of the organization. They refuse to address problems that actually matter and the whole organization is reluctant to change. There's also a lot of arrogance within managers and directors which is very embarrassing. Within the contributors, theres a culture of not caring about the job and everyone just wants a paycheck to do the least possible work. I get it, but that's entirely management’s failure.

Great collaboration and support. They strive to improve the culture every day with new programs, supports, and volunteerism.

It's a lot to learn in a short amount of time. People are pulled regularly for new projects without a guarantee that their position is back-filled
