Pros

trivago provides great learning opportunities and gives a lot of ownership and accountability. They also provide significant flexibility in multiple aspects for it's employees, in terms of: working hours, attending personal commitments and balancing work/private life, holidays and a reasonable hybrid policy. The company also puts a lot of emphasis into making the workplace enjoyable through other benefits, such as a having a great campus, plenty of cultural events and amazing parties, supporting sporting events, providing free snacks & drinks in the office, budget for training, attending conferences and regular monthly team events. I've also always appreciated the company's general attitude & approach to learning through failure. Above all, the main factor that has kept me for 10+ years at trivago are the fantastic work colleagues. The vast majority of colleagues I've worked with over the years are incredibly smart, motivated, respectful, fun and genuine people. On top of that, the high level of diversity throughout the company makes it even more enjoyable.

Cons

While changes are necessary to remain competitive in the travel industry, there have been times over the years where it became a bit exhausting and discouraging to have such frequent reshuffling of teams/projects/strategies. This varies a lot per team but some parts of the company still feel as though they haven't fully transitioned away from more of a start-up mindset where things are lacking a bit in terms of structure, processes & documentation.

Thanks for your honest feedback. On one hand, we appreciate you highlighting some perks of working here. On the other hand, it’s sad to see that you’re overall not satisfied. We understand that salaries are among important factors that affect job satisfaction. This is why we regularly review our pay philosophy to ensure that it aligns with a talents’ individual contribution, scope of responsibilities, as well as external market, NRW as a case in point. We also encourage our talents to explore growth opportunities within the company with our active internal mobility program. We acknowledge that there’s always room for improvement and we’ll continue to make positive steps in the right direction. We’re not very big fans of office politics or bureaucracy, hence we’d be curious to learn more about the specific cases of favoritism that you mentioned so feel free to approach any of our business partners with your concerns.

Pros

- Great work-life balance: people generally respect your rest time and do not disturb you after work hours. One also has the trust & freedom to manage their workload and time - Collaborative colleagues: most people genuinely want to help create better outcomes. At the working level, there isn't much ego at all that could impede progress - Lots of events & activities: from parties celebrating unique cultures to tech talks to an annual On Tour (where you could choose to join the company on a surprise trip - destination unknown before the trip) - Mature experimentation culture: platform & tools have been built (and continuously improved) to enable quick learning & results

Cons

- Lack of career progression: there is a shared sense of frustration where one has no idea/guidance on growing through the job levels (not necessarily to a leadership role) - Perceived unfairness: frustrations regarding a lack of career progression are amplified when people observe others getting promoted to a higher position without that position ever being open for interviews
