Pros

Before the company went public, Vacasa was an amazing place to work. Leadership was receptive to what people had to say, there was flexibility, a culture of trust, there were never any layoffs, the goals we had were challenging but achievable, there was very little turnover, there was growth opportunity and they cared about your professional development, etc. The benefits (like health insurance) were great throughout my experience there. The people were amazing and easily the best part of the job, I'm still friends with a few of my coworkers today.

Cons

After Vacasa went public, it all went downhill. Suddenly it was all about the numbers and leadership stopped listening to their employees. They hired more leaders who were terrible at their jobs. Goals/KPI's suddenly became impossible to reach. Turnover increased tenfold. We were so overworked that there was no time to work on professional development. They started monitoring our online activity to make sure we were actually working, which made us feel like we weren't trusted, and we had to manually track our hours by activity which was cumbersome and added to the lack of feeling trusted. Layoffs started happening left and right. I was personally effected twice - once because of COVID, and after coming back a year later, I was effected by one of their many mass layoffs. It didn't make sense to me because I was a top performer; they couldn't give me a reason why I was selected either, I think it was random. I don't think Vacasa has a very bright future if they continue down this path.

Pros

Able to work from home, great team members, learned a lot

Cons

Management does not listen about concerns, I was let go without being able to talk to anyone because I did not want to be transferred for another job position. I was happy where I was, doing what I was doing for that time.
