Pros

Can't think of any pros.

Cons

Their licensing and appointment process is awful!! They make promises of getting you started fast which does NOT happen. It's been 2 months and I only have a small handful of carriers. There is confusion, and disorganization with this company. I have almost 20 yrs experience and I have never, ever, known an agency to drop the ball in all areas as they have. If you are smart you won't even consider this company to be affiliated with. They're nice and they SAY all the right things. DON"T BELIEVE IT!

Pros

UIG is a good company, if your business aspirations fall completely into their system. The training is good. The incentive trips were amazing.

Cons

In some cases, they take over half over your commissions. Once you leave the company it is very difficult to get assistance with commissions issues. If you sell more products than UIG's niche market your production is not valued.

Since 1983, UIG has focused on the Senior Market portfolio including supplemental plans , final expense, hospital indemnity, DVH, short term recovery care, and cancer products. The underage major medical market has never been our focus and with the turmoil in this market right now, carriers have been forced to cut commissions and in some cases pay nothing because of catastrophic losses. Some regional carriers have even gone so far as to make only two managing agents in control of this business and thus we have lost the capability to control commission payouts. We do so little production in the major medical market so these challenges impact very few of our agents.
