There were some new arrivals in Senior Leadership that had a different style of people management and that was sometimes challenging but the culture of the company is strong and they either left or adapted to the Company.

Pros
I met some genuinely great people whilst working at Lyst, some great talented people.
Cons
I was excited to start work at Lyst when I got my role. I thought I’d be joining a fast paced, interesting to work for start-up which was growing fast. Wow, did that bubble quickly burst. Lack of ability to hire, retain and promote people from BAME and under represented groups. What ruins Lyst is the lack of true authenticity in it’s leadership, for example an ‘ask me anything’ session with the CEO where the tough questions are vetted out. The change in strategy almost every Quarter. The lack of communication when there are big team changes and then the whispers go out and the rumour mill starts. I am also aware that Lyst had an internal drive to improve it’s Glassdoor ratings because of all the negative reviews it had previously received. If you look closely at the dates of some of the positive reviews you’ll see there are a high proportion of these positive reviews from May - June 2019. I know what they did and you should know as well.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are sorry to hear that you were not happy with your experience while at Lyst, in particular the concerns you raise about diversity & inclusion across the business. I want to share some further information about the actions we’ve been taking to further promote a diverse & inclusive environment at Lyst over the last year. At the beginning of our last fiscal year, we invested time and resources into re-defining the Diversity Committee’s strategy and roadmap; this included identifying the Committee’s mission and key areas of focus, which would shape our initiatives and events. These areas of focus were: education and raising awareness internally, supporting our Talent team to hire for diversity and community outreach. Further to this, we recruited for new Committee members, and our People Advisor took the role of leading the Committee, to ensure alignment with our People & Culture strategy. Since then we have hosted events and initiatives such as; Codebar workshops, internal Ted Talk discussions, a Black History Month panel event and Lyst Pride week. We have also created a well defined hiring process to support in eliminating bias, and ensured all our job descriptions are checked through Gender Decoder to eliminate gender bias. We want to build on the work we’ve started and hold ourselves accountable as a business, so we have recently launched Lyst’s first D&I survey, which aims to establish our employees’s views on how diverse and inclusive our current environment is. This will provide us with a baseline to benchmark ourselves against, and to measure future progress. We acknowledge that there is still a lot of work for us to do. Building a diverse and inclusive culture is a continuous process, which we actively need to drive and support. We are therefore always open to receiving feedback about Lyst or diversity & inclusion, and would be interested in chatting with you further to understand the points you raised in more detail. So please email us on people@lyst.com and we can arrange a video call to discuss further, or alternatively pop in when we have returned back to the office. Thanks again, Frances

Pros
- I have started remotely, and my experience has been second to none, I have felt so welcomed into the business and everyone is super approachable (even if it isn't in person yet) - I have been given feedback constantly so I do not feel like I am set up for failure - You are in charge of your own work, no feeling of micro management. - Open-minded, friendly and fun! - Challenged in the way I wanted to be.
Cons
- My only con is not being able to have this experience in the office! I have that 'fomo' feeling.

"Ambitious company with positive culture and values"

RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI have been working at Lyst full-time for less than a year
Pros
- Lyst has clearly invested a lot of time building a culture where people are motivated by what they do and enjoy coming to work. - The company values are really clear from day one. People know where they stand and know what they are expected to deliver on. -Senior management are cohesive. They communicate key decisions and strategy to the business well, and have inspired commitment and loyalty from employees (a lot of whom have been there 3+ years). - Employees are switched on and smart. Lyst has ~120 employees but still maintains a start-up culture in a lot of ways, moving quickly and proving fast. People get a lot of ownership over what they do and are accountable for it. - Lyst holds a unique position in the market and has big ambitions over where it wants to be. There are great opportunities to be stretched and no two days at work are ever the same. -Excellent offices and company perks (lunch, yoga, football, friday socials etc).
Cons
-Can't think of any cons in particular.

RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI have been working at Lyst full-time for less than a year
Pros
Lyst vision is bold and ambitious, is easy to identify people that are driven and working hard every day to fulfil that. Loads of people with 3+ years working share the same vision and grit to make it work. You are independent and have full support to work your own hypothesis and tests. We are also responsible for your working hours, it's more important to deliver the projects and results than spend long hours at your desk. The freedom is not suitable for everyone since is easy to slack and lose focus on your OKRs and squad objectives. Brillant people around all senior positions and all of them are willing to listen to you and help with anything necessary to ensure you have all structure and support around you to deliver the best you can, this also provides clear guidance and inspiration to become better at your job every day. Amazing office, food available all day, good benefits package.
Cons
The nation, tribe, squads organization can be confusing. Loads of legacy issues that demand hours of rework and sometimes are deprioritised due to the company ambition of constant growth.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We’re pleased to hear the positive feedback about our culture and the vision and ambitions. We appreciate that our org structure can be complex and take some time to understand. We’ve therefore spent a lot of time over the last year improving clarity on this and understanding across the business. As part of our onboarding, we put huge importance on providing tools and support to ensure new starters understand how we operate at Lyst. We hope to build on this work over the next 6-12 months. Thanks again, Emma
