    Software Engineer Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in London, England (UK)
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Lyst (London, England (UK)).

    Interview

Got a take-home task which specifically says "don't focus on beautiful code the code should just be functional" whatever that means, I submitted my code and got back feedback saying they won't be progressing because my code wasn't refactored and some output format (I'm printinf stuff on screen) wasn't exactly as they liked. It is rather silly they almost mislead candidates rather than hell them succeed.

    Interview

Very disappointing to be informed of a telephone interview and after giving my availability to be left in limbo.. Especially during these covid times when every opportunity is a glimpse of hope. I still haven't received a reply back from the HR and it's been more than 3 weeks--something doesn't look right

    Interview

The interview process with Lyst was very good. I had a clear view of what was going to happen in each of the sessions. The recruiter was very organised, polite and very nice. The interviewers were extremely nice too.

    Business Analyst Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Lyst (London, England (UK)) in April 2020.

    Interview

After one month of applying online I was approached for a screening call asking if I was still interested.

Following the screening call, talent acquisition said they would progress my application to the next steps and this was followed by 10 days of silence.

After those 10 days they said the team changed the job spec, from working on app to growth. I was surprised they asked if this role would still be a good fit because my CV shows I did even more work on the new position requirements. We agreed that the core functionality of both applications was similar, and that I would get an SQL test shortly.

3 days after my application gets dropped for "lacking the right experience"

This was a waste of time, mismanagement of expectations and lacking organisation overall. Would not trust their process to be serious or in good faith.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Lyst (London, England (UK)) in March 2020.

    Interview

Phone screening interview first, followed by a face to face interview. It was a seamless process which worked great, nothing out of the ordinary and the building is easy to find (and beautiful). When I had my face to face interview I felt welcomed and had a really good feeling about the environment! And now I am happy and proud to say I work at Lyst.

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Lyst (London, England (UK)) in December 2019.

    Interview

Clear and straightforward interview process including
    1) Short phone interview with HR
    2) Case study with an international director by skype
    3) Skype interview with VP International (many short case studies)
    4) 2-round interview with VP Product and VP Sales
    5) One more meeting with VP Internation (my potential manager) and HR to answer my questions

The process was very fast: the results were announced to me the same day, 2-3 h after the interview.

    Interview Questions

    • Interviews were focused much more on job and Lyst product understanding than my experiences.
      1) HR: what I understand about the job and why I want to join Lyst
      2) Int director: xls data about lyst sales. How can we improve comission rate that Lyst receives from the brands?
      3) VP Int: Case studies about other search platforms (ex., Hotel.com): why 2 hotels have different numbers of reviews, etc.
      4) VP Product: cultural fit questions (what I am looking for at the new job, etc.); VP Sales: example of successful negotiations, etc.   Answer Question

    BI Analyst Interview

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Lyst (London, England (UK)) in November 2019.

    Interview

This is honestly the most frustrating recruitment process I ever had.

HR sounded nice and following our call, I was given a coding assignment to work on. There was some delay in them getting me back to the connection problem I encountered but HR apologised sincerely and it seemed to be a plausible reason. Straight after the problem was sorted, I started working on it when I was actually a bit sick because I didn't want them to wait for too long. The next day, when I was just about to submit my exercise, the HR got back to me saying they've decided to put the role on hold, which is extremely frustrating because I put my expectation and time into it whilst I was also working on another firm's case study. This was basically a waste of my time.

The interview obviously wasn't moving forward. However, I guess this could be a perfect indication of how disorganised this company is at least in terms of communication and how little respect they showed to their prospective employees. I noticed that when i applied for the role, it'd been posted 3 weeks ago so presumably, they had applications going and was keeping me only as an option, which was even more unfair!

I wouldn't consider applying for any roles in the company nor would I recommend this company to any of my friends.
