Absolutely nothing, wouldn’t recommend even to my worst enemy unless you fancy poor mental health. Only even remotely good thing about working at Ladbrokes are the friends you make during your time here.

Unsafe to work - I was assaulted by a customer and the CCTV wasn’t working, managers did nothing about it months later. Late shifts working alone, puts you in a vulnerable position as people higher up disregard your well-being. Contract states you will receive full training and won’t be left alone for at least 8 weeks minimum: absolute garbage. Customers speak to you like crap - rude, disrespectful and rarely anyway positive interactions (depending on the area of shop as Ive found to learn). Underpaid for the responsibility - expected to key-hold within weeks of starting with no prior bookmaker experience. Handling large amounts of cash daily, and it’s easy to get caught in a scam if you aren’t experienced in how these people work. Hours - never the same weekly making it hard to schedule anything. Expecting students and young staff to work overtime alongside studies. At one point I was working over 30 hours per week with university studies, constantly asked to do overtime due to staff turnover being ridiculous. The company get rid of the most experienced and the best staff, replacing them with unexperienced employees who have no clue what they’re doing in a bid to “save money” which doesn’t work at all if the shop is not properly staffed as it is. Had approximately 6 managers in a year and a half working for the company so far. Constantly moved to different shops around the city I reside in to cover other unreliable staff members, or because market-place management are too lazy to bother doing their rotas correctly. Area manager threw his towel in and resigned with “immediate effect” leaving us to deal with the consequences of not having the reliability needed. Company care too much about profit over health and safety - one shop I worked in LITERALLY had the roof come in, shop was filthy and in no fit state to be open the next day. Hazardous to customers and colleagues alike.
