Pros

The only pro is the incomparable feeling of bliss you get when you resign and the fresh air you can breathe once you cut ties with this rancid company. If you can survive in this environment, you will soar in your next position. In fact, you will thrive. You will know exactly what you don’t want in your next job and that, like most humans, you want to work in a supportive environment that actually pays you a shred of respect. This my PSA to all the naïve and money hungry college graduates whom they prey upon and promise the world to.... RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN! If you need further reasoning for this, continue reading:

Cons

KellyMitchell is composed of unprofessional and unsupportive management that practices, in fact, encourages unethical recruitment methods. It requires an iron-clad stomach to last beyond 6-9 months there. Most don’t. Their inability to retain intelligent, driven, and capable employees is a direct result of mismanagement from the top down and further substantiates the astute level of managerial incompetence. They built the entire company upon blindly loyal, barely competent sales misfits. Not one manager in the entire company has gone through any semblance of managerial training and, as a result, they dictate with fear tactics, emotional tirades, and passive aggressive emails. Should you dare have an issue and the sheer audacity to go to your manager for help, you'll quickly be turned away and told that they "have bigger fish to fry" and that they simply just don't want to help you. Question: if you can't go to your direct manager for help…and there's no internal HR department…who are employees supposed to go to? Who supports the cogs that make the KellyMitchell wheel go round? Perhaps that has something to do with the 150+% turnover: a statistic that this sausage factory holds proudly as a notorious badge of honor.

Pros

There are a few upsides to working at KM: - Lavish reward trips (if you can make it) - Fun people, and college like environment, everyone was very open, probably too open, but it made the grueling hours and challenges a little bit more bearable. - Once you start getting the hang of things and making hires, the commission does add up and you can make a very good living... if you can survive. - If you can make it at KM, you can make it in any recruiting environment.

Cons

- EXTREME micromanagement. - The male owner is always on a major power trip. When he walks by recruiters, you better have a phone in your hand or prepare to explain why you don't. It could be that you just finished a call or are doing something completely relevant, but if he sees recruiters not on the phone he will go off, no matter what the circumstance. - While I was at KM a "punishment jar" was instituted for not hitting daily goals of 50 calls/day. Every morning we would stand up at our desk and state if we made our goal the day before and if not, we had to draw from the jar. Punishments included double call goals (when the first goal was already an impossible rate for some days), eating weird unknown things that were put in the punishment jar, and working 7-7 days for at least 3 days that week (as if you weren't already). It was the most demeaning/childish thing I have ever experienced in my professional career. - Zero work/life balance. 7-7 days were a norm for KM. - As other post have implied, you better be prepared to drink if you want to be accepted at KM. Happy hours are required, and if you weren't drinking you were ostracized by management members, which trickled down to other employees treating you different. - Very high turn over. We placed bets on what the new door code would be after someone was let go. This game was played sometimes up to 2-3 times a week. - The KM model of hiring is to get people young and fresh out of college who don't know any better but than to work 60+ hours a week if that's what a job demands of you. They steal their souls, chew them up, have them make a few hires, and then spit them out so they can soak up their commission on the house account. At a certain point it is more profitable for them to let a recruiter go and take their commission than to keep them on staff. This is why they also rarely give a real reason when letting people go, which they would do just on a whim sometimes. - I was at KM for almost 2 years, most everyone I worked with has since moved on, and not a one of us have anything good to say about the company, OTHER than we loved the people we grew to know down in the trenches.

Pros

I learned a lot working for KellyMitchell and gained a lot of valuable skills to take to another company. Since there is not a training program, you learn on the fly which forces you to work outside of your comfort zone and you learn a lot very quickly. I also truly enjoyed my coworkers and was happy to be able to collaborate with such lovely and hardworking people on a daily basis, including the other offices that you're branch is tied with.

Cons

The fall from grace at KM is hard and fast and turnover is extremely high. At some point, all recruiters are forced to write a positive review on glassdoor. When I was forced to write one, I was told to notify my manager so they could go on and make sure that it was acceptable. It was said by one of the C level employees: "there's no such thing is work life balance, work is your life." That may be true for some people when you're making 6 figures, but not for people who are working to just pay their rent. There's a huge focus on quantity over quality, which in the short term may pay off, but doesn't allow the recruiter to build real relationships with any of their current or prospective consultants.
