Pros

Pros: Some genuinely good colleagues who try to make the best of a difficult environment. A few managers are supportive on a personal level, but they are the exception rather than the rule.

Cons

Cons: • Poor pay and unclear commission structure: Commission targets are confusing and designed so that the top tiers are nearly impossible to reach consistently. Payments are often delayed, reduced, or disputed, with explanations that shift responsibility away from management. • Favouritism and unprofessional behaviour: Promotions are frequently based on personal relationships or social connections rather than skill, contribution, or performance. Certain employees are rehired despite previous behavioural issues simply because they “liven up the office,” which often leads to an unprofessional work environment. • Toxic culture and double standards: Inappropriate behaviour, gossip, and substance use are widely tolerated. Incidents that should be taken seriously are ignored if the individuals involved are seen as good performers. • Lack of career progression: Promises of pay rises or promotions are rarely fulfilled, and the process is drawn out to the point that many employees become disengaged. • Unfair treatment in interviews and evaluations: Some promotion interview processes appear to be predetermined, with decisions made before interviews take place. • Questionable management attitudes: Management openly questions people’s suitability for sales roles based on personality type or social interests rather than performance. Introverted or quieter employees are often undervalued, regardless of results. • Dismissive leadership: When concerns are raised to senior leaders, they are often denied, minimised, or deflected back onto the employee.

Pros

Initially the commission structure seems good..

Cons

Goal posts are constantly changed Management undermine staff continuously If your not in the clique they are interested Treated with minimum respect by certain management Your ideas or queries are ignored unless it suits them Promotions are based on who you know, not how good you are at your job Certain Directors don’t have the decency to even acknowledge staff unless they’re wanting them to do something. Employee turnover rate is ridiculous as they don’t allow time for growth and if they do you realise what a joke the place is and leave anyway! Commissions aren’t all what they seem. Promises are gone back on. They say one thing then do another and say they never said that. As a lead gen, expected to be on the phone cold calling constantly however if your sales, you can do what you want, when you want. When recruiting, the staff will all discuss a potential employees look and the more barbie like you are, the more attention your given from higher members of staff.

Cons

I worked at ice comms for a number of years and the company went from a fantastic company one of the best to work for too one of the worst , a change in directors changed the way the management thought about and treated their staff. The goal posts change constantly , this is in all areas of the business however mainly involves incentives, incentives are set which are now unachievable they used to be realistic, achievable and paid out, however they are now made impossible and even when hit the management move the goal posts, this is so demoralising for staff, and prevents anyone from trying to achieve an incentive for it not to be rewarded when hit. There is a massive divide between all departments of staff and lead generators are made to feel like the bottom of the pile, and compared to sales staff they are treated so badly, including being made to work in the office during covid, despite all senior staff being allowed to work from home, and even said that telecoms were key workers. The divide between lead generators and sales staff was addressed and a change was made for the better however due to a senior member of staff wanting a change, this was all scrapped and the initial divide came back. Training is minimal , bar the first few days of induction, and there is no proper training plan in place. Rather that provide ongoing training they just sack people, and terminate their employment immediately and then they commence the whole process again. Unless you are senior management or have a senior position within the business this hangs over your head, as your worrying if you have a bad day or week if you will still have a job. Job security has always been a major issue. The staff turnover at Ice comms is one of the highest i have ever seen within telecommunications. Commission is always another fun aspect of the month, commissions are paid don't get me wrong, however 90% of times you have to argue to be paid what you are owed, this always isn't resolved. Commission structures have been also been cut , which is awful when the directors are buying houses and driving super cards, and when you leave Ice comms dont expect to be paid any commission that you are owed, or expect to be paid correctly as this doesnt happen, you are told deals have cancelled despite this not being the case. Confidentiality and lack of human resources is very concerning, if someone is off sick for a valid reason, within 20 minutes of them calling in sick the whole office is discussing why they are off sick, and making jokes and jibes at the employees expense, as well as being questioned at to whether the absence is genuine. The lack of professionalism in the office is always at an all time high - anything can be discussed on the sales floor - any topic including sex, drugs, race . Also the level of foul language used across the floor is horrendous. One member of staff has an official racism complaint made about them, but as he was close to retirement age it wasnt dealt with in the correct manner, and was brushed under the carpet and blamed on the person who made the initial complaint apparently they were too sensitive. The recruitment process is also not done on skill this is done on looks - if an interview was coming in and was female, the member of staff was googled and searched on face book and judged before they even attended the interview, the company also has declined staff with experience due to their sexuality and gender they prefer to go buy, they are then ridiculed within the office and become a butt of jokes. The company has the attitude if your face fits you will go far and if it doesnt you will be excluded and wont make the cut. Internal promotions are also done extremely unfairly and the directors brother who has been at the company a few months, with no experience, was awarded a senior role over a member of staff who has been there 7 years and was more than qualified for the role. The company also has its own in house legal department due to the number of issues with the contracts at month 18 , as the deals offered are a 50% discount offer, which stops at the mid term unless companies re-contract in. Ice cause issues for management level staff when they decide to leave the business, one of the sales directors was put on immediate garden leave when he handed in his resignation, and is now in the middle of a legal battle, his partner worked in another department and ice made her redundant with no severeance package due to a conflict of interest. Another sales director decided to take an evening course to better himself, once management saw this on facebook he was demoted and told he wasn't dedicated enough despite ice comms paying for the same course for another employee. Free coffees on a Monday advertised as Starbucks is another bone of contention with the staff, the coffee machine is always broken on a Monday.
