Unrealistic expectations

Pros

Growing company , beyond its current capabilities

Cons

Working at this company has been challenging due to a lack of emphasis on employee well-being and a complete disregard for work-life balance. The turnover rate across all departments is notably high, and voluntary and involuntary terminations often occur without clear reasons provided. Effective communication and consistency among departments and leaders are lacking, contributing to challenges for new employees. Inadequate training, coupled with inconsistencies in training materials and consistence only in daily changes in operating procedures , further complicates the training process. Additionally, the absence of empathy from upper management towards employee concerns about lack of policies and procedures is concerning. Instead of addressing these issues, employees are often subjected to scrutiny and, in some cases, unjust terminations based on fabricated accusations. Amid a culture of blame-shifting, lack of support and micro managing, meeting deadlines becomes challenging. Suggestions for improvement are met with reprimand, creating a culture of fear rather than collaboration. Every suggestion has the epitome of a reprimand on why there way is correct vs open mindedness to get the job done as a team. Promises of quick promotions are made during the hiring process, only to be broken when external candidates lacking experience are hired instead. There is no trust in this company and upper management tends to avoid addressing concerns of what is needed to grow vs daily nuances that at any other management company would be a level tier 1.

Pros

Hillpointe has a supportive, team-first culture where people genuinely want to see each other succeed. Senior leadership is very invested in making sure every employee has a clear professional growth plan and the support to achieve it. Communication is open and expectations are clear, which makes it easy to stay focused and motivated. The environment is fast-paced but rewarding, especially for those who like to be challenged and grow. Hard work is recognized, wins are celebrated, and you can truly see the impact of the work you do.

Cons

Hard work isn’t for everyone

Pros

The pay is the only thing keeping people here

Cons

This company has changed dramatically under new leadership, and not in a good way. The work environment has become toxic, uncomfortable, and unprofessional. Many long-term, experienced employees have been pushed out and replaced with very young, inexperienced “attractive” hires who seem to be chosen for reasons unrelated to skill or qualifications. It’s a pattern that makes the entire atmosphere feel uneasy and inappropriate. There’s constant favoritism and a strange “inner circle” dynamic among leadership and a few select hires. Comments and behavior from the top often blur the line between professional and personal, leaving many employees feeling uncomfortable. Professionalism and boundaries are nearly nonexistent. Recently, all employee concessions were stripped away with zero warning. A small, taxable stipend was given to a handful of employees as a replacement, which only made morale worse. The company’s bonus program is equally demoralizing — goals are so unrealistic that 98% of employees never qualify, and when the issue is raised, leadership reportedly shrugs it off with, “No one got it anyway.” That sums up their attitude perfectly. Nepotism is also alive and well here. Leadership hired a close friend’s child into a high-visibility role — someone with no relevant experience — who now spends most of their time barking orders and trying to “manage” people. Direction constantly changes, communication is chaotic, and decisions are made impulsively with no plan for execution. It’s clear that the people calling the shots don’t understand property operations, and it shows in every area of the business. This company is 10000% run by FEAR and intimidation to the employees. If you’re looking for stability, ethical leadership, and a professional environment, this is not the place. RUN DONT WALK AWAY!

Pros

It’s been a great experience working at Hillpointe. One of the standout aspects is the excellent work-life balance — it's truly respected and encouraged here, which makes it easy to maintain both personal and professional well-being. Another strength is the constant and clear corporate communication. Whether it's company updates, leadership transparency, or team alignment, the flow of information helps everyone feel connected and in the loop. Perhaps most exciting is the endless opportunity for growth. Whether you're looking to advance within your role, pivot to another department, or take on leadership responsibilities, there's strong support and room to grow. Overall, it’s a company that invests in its people, encourages a healthy work culture, and is committed to long-term employee success.

Cons

So far, everything has been positive.

Pros

The pay and benefits were excellent, and the properties have incredible potential. I genuinely loved the residents, the community, and the relationships built along the way. I actually enjoy a fast-paced environment — it keeps things exciting and rewarding. I was thriving in my role, juggling leasing, marketing, outreach, and operations all at once, and learning more than I ever expected. My peers across the company were amazing — supportive, collaborative, and dedicated to keeping things running even through leadership changes.

Cons

Leadership turnover and inconsistent communication made it difficult to find direction. The pace itself isn’t the issue — it’s that structure didn’t always keep up with the speed. On-site teams often had to figure things out on their own, which can be tough for new hires or those who need clear systems. Little to no visible support from leadership at property level. Incoming employees onboarded without any training other than computer modules.

Pros

There is nothing nice to say about this company

Cons

I wet through 3 interviews. I was then offered a position. I accepted the offer and signed all the paperwork. I did the drug test and background check, both came back clean. The company was aware I had to quit my job so I gave adequate notice. 2 days after my last day at my job and 1 day before I was supposed to start at Hillpointe, I received an email saying my position was “eliminated”. No other communication, no phone call, not even a signature on the email. Just a generic template. To say this was a terrible way to manage a company is putting it lightly.
