Pros

- Good tech recruiting software and has a good market opportunity - Salary is slightly above market standards and depends on the role - Good work from home policy - Cafeteria is pretty good - Descent equity benefits but can be better

Cons

- No career growth, and it's a struggle to find a way to grow - Not a lot of focus on learning & development and improving skills set - Management sits out of the US office and primarily focused in the US market. India & UK region doesn't deserve the same attention and I can understand it's a tough balance to maintain. - There is very little respect and appreciation for quiet performers. People who work hard and have added value to the business must be treated well and show some respect.

Pros

Nothing much here, you might get a chance to work on toy projects

Cons

The revenue predictions from the past many quarters have been bad and as a result the bonus payout is sometimes 50%. They reward people in a very unfair manner and people who nod their head to everything are in good books. They organize offsites and spend money on hotels and lunches, but they fail to keep bonus portion of the salary in full. This kind of management has led to many people leaving the company

Pros

Their salary range is decent based on location

Cons

I joined this organization in 2021 when it was at its peak. We had a diverse workforce, great management, opportunities for self improvement and development - however, that environment no longer exists at Hackerrank. Changes in leadership has caused a toxic work environment that doesn’t allow for transparency amongst collaborating teams, there is absolutely no room for growth or personal development… promotions are nonexistent. This place has gone downhill, a once a thriving, diverse work place is now ran by horrible. CEO doesn’t know how to run a business, or speak to employees let alone the customer. If you join this organization, be ready to have slack messages, coming from the CEO, to individual contributor, pass business hours, I’m talking about 10 PM at night asking you remedial questions. Not to mention, the CEO is running everything across the company, customer, communications, product, sales, etc. The product roadmap is never accurate, as an employee you never know when new product is launching. You’re constantly told to push new product features that either are never fully developed or broken upon release. This is such a frustrating place to work avoid by all means.

Pros

Flexible timings Nothing much. to tell

Cons

Low Salary. The company is for just 4 (V H A S) Everyone Leaving left and right, the whole executive team is watching the exit gate and curious about who will be next. Founders are not running properly, technically CPO runs the company and the CEO takes orders from him.

Pros

Competitive salary, sets reasonable expectations and achievable goals, unlimited PTO, respect for work/life balance.

Cons

Being fully remote, would like more in person meetings and team building. I feel a lot of things get discussed more in-depth when the team can meet face to face and zoom really doesn't really have the same effect.

Pros

Tough to think of any for the present day situation. HackerRank was a great idea, and used to be a very mission-driven company, which made it a really special place to work.. So maybe that counts for something.

Cons

The bottom line is that many who built the company and helped it become the high-momentum startup it once was are now gone. High-profile hires, A-players, and those who were truly dedicated to the mission of the company have also left. What they've been replaced with are less-than-inspiring "leaders" who don't understand or care about the mission, can't build functional teams, and seem to be more interested in hiding in conference rooms fighting political battles than driving the company forward. It is not a fun place to work by any stretch. There are a lot more better employment opportunities out there-- from a salary, culture, working environment, upward mobility and product traction standpoint. If you are looking for that fast-paced, growing, exciting company where you will have a great learning opportunity then HackerRank probably isn't the place for you. The company's ceiling is low and getting lower with each bad hire and key team member departure.
