Pros

Social group Good friends Freedom to come and go Nice CEO Caring HR Smart Research leaders

Cons

The reviews that say sinking ship or run away are what you should really pay attention to on Glassdoor. I've been here some time now and it's time to speak up. Potential new employee's deserve better. On the surface, the people are fantastic. The CEO is a genuinely nice person and HR has been consistently fantastic over the years. But what I have also witnessed over the years, is a consistent exodus of the best talent either due to them finding better opportunities or due to them pointing out the incompetence of leadership. Years back there was a genuine sense of joy in our Briefing & Brews Meetings and now it feels similar to the stereotypical bad marriage in which the parents go through the motions for the sake of the children. This is a loveless & directionless place at it's core. I believe our CEO means well, but he surrounded himself by people who pull the wool over his eyes particularly in the Sales and Product department. There's no real sales enablement and it's needed because our software is not on par with the competition and is not well designed. The Product Directors that should lead our evolution, have lost nearly the entire engineering and product team within a year and it hurts. Marketing Department is a joke and overstaffed. They should all be let go and the work outsourced. This sinking ship stays afloat for three reason, great Research leadership, we outsource much of our work to a team in India and 2 big accounts/an offering (Nestle, Google and Constellation Projects). This keep the business afloat until companies wake up and realize there's better more secure companies out there. Do not drink the Kool-Aid. Do not come here unless you are fresh out of college. GutCheck is lost. (HR don't bother responding. I may give my feedback at my exit interview when a new job offer comes in. A day that can't come soon enough.)

Pros

There are some great people who work there but what a waste of talent on a dud of a business.

Cons

Great in theory, GutCheck is unfortuantely a failure of a business concept and will never be anything more than a struggling startup. The CEO means well, but the "GASI" culture is force fed to employees and is not a reality. I reported to four different bosses during my first seven months there. My target accounts were a constant moving target and there was a perpetual shift in strategy, direction and approach to sales. During my brief stint, I witnessed a steady stream of key sales personnel departures, e.g. the CRO, RVP, VP of Sales, Dir Sales Ops all left within a six month span. Eventually, one of my peers - who wasn't even a successful rep and had zero experience managing others - became my "boss". Not exactly an environment that sets the stage for success. In sum, if you like to break your neck hustling for peanuts and be bombarded with a constant stream of organizational noise and distracted by half-cocked product "innovations" - by all means, seek out GutCheck...just temper your expectations.

Thank you for taking the time to review GutCheck and how we can improve. It can be difficult to build and scale a first-class organization, and we have certainly learned a lot from the changes we’ve experienced over the last couple of years. With those learnings in hand, we are optimistic about our current positioning and ability to scale, primarily driven by new investments and expertise in sales, product, and people operations/culture. That said, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you personally to learn more about your experience. But if we don’t get an opportunity to speak, please know that your feedback was heard and we will work hard to improve.

Pros

You get to work with some interesting well known brands Remote work is possible There is a good amount of autonomy if you get your work done

Cons

More expensive and slower than competitors. The strategic direction of the company is not working. Their advanced products (big data) don't perform as claimed. The CEO and head of sales both left in 2020 which has left gaping holes in culture. Insanely high turnover - during my tenor the heads of marketing, HR, product, sales, key accounts all left in addition to the CEO Very junior people in charge of change management and strategy New leadership is not based in Denver and has desire to continue the amazing culture GutCheck once had. It's truly the end of an era. The main goal for leadership is to be acquired - that means slashing costs/salaries/expenses and focusing totally on the quick buck

Thank you for sharing your perspective, albeit one that does not match the facts on the ground. We have built a team, including leadership, with the experience to innovate and grow GutCheck. Our team continually focuses on learning and development for ourselves and the company. We are confident in the direction we are headed as we continue to lead the industry.
