Pros

The production team is top notch and create quality product to support the sales you make.

Cons

Sexism is alive and real in this company. I have never been treated so disrespectfully in my entire career. Even though I excelled and was top salesperson, they tried to control and diminish me every chance they got. Until a year ago, I didn't even see female managers invited to Manager's Meetings. When I asked about it, I was told "they didn't have anything to contribute." The commission was cut three times -- until it now is only 2% until halfway to goal. Specifics of the compensation plan were misrepresented in my interviews. Who would agree to 2% commission on such small sales units? Their discriminatory behavior, coupled with their financial instability, should make you pause before joining this organization.

Thank you for your comments and giving credit to our Production team--we're very proud of their work and our other teams as well. I would like to address your comments as some of your statements appear to lack understanding or omit facts. Our expectations for account managers are pretty clear—goals are established prior to the year and then quarterly/annual reviews measure sales performance, CRM documentation, and other factors like teamwork and initiative--our goal is to be as objective as possible. For the record, women managers are/have been included in weekly, strategic and other pertinent meetings since I started in 2003--this is well-documented and their contributions are valued. Regarding our commission structure, you neglect to mention that we increased the 50%+ tier rate substantially, added sales contests, spiffs and over goal bonuses all of which benefited you. We also created work-from-home options and added travel dollars to further assist you and others. Neither HR or myself was aware of any discriminatory behavior you allude to, and if you felt that way, we had well-defined avenues to address any grievances. The fact is that for the past 30+ years, we've been a woman-owned business with a majority of female managers and employees--discriminatory behavior would not be, and is not tolerated in our workplace. Rather, in reviews and memos, we regularly acknowledged, complimented and documented your wins, milestones and successful trips/meetings. I’m disappointed things didn’t work out for you here and you’re certainly entitled to your opinions, but in all fairness, the facts matter. Should any employee or candidate have questions or concerns about our company, we have an open door policy and happy to meet anytime.

Pros

Production, Marketing teams were solid. Generous PTO, nice people, good clients.

Cons

Leadership at this company is just lost. So poorly managed, no insight to current trends and they seem incapable of adapting to what is happening in the industry. The sales department is a complete failure. The company is missing their revenue goals year after year due to unqualified leadership. The failure of sales has put the entire company at risk but they stubbornly refuse to address the problems. The leadership at this company chooses to blame departed employees instead of confronting the fact that the real issue is with leadership. I'll be surprised if this company has any real long term viability. Do NOT recommend.

Thank you for your feedback and acknowledging the efforts and good work of our employees. I would like to address a few of your comments to provide some perspective and clarity. In fairness to the owners and management of our company, it should be acknowledged that these individuals have put in many years of service, provided investment and care about the success of our employees and the company. They have built well-performing teams which you rightly give credit to--and many employees have developed productive careers, and enjoy their experience with us. Clearly, the media/marketing industry is rapidly changing, but so have we—by doubling the number of products and services we provide in the past several years, and making significant investments in technology and equipment. We also believe in transparency in our communication to employees—from monthly updates that cite sales performance, wins and personal milestones--to periodic staff meetings and access to reporting to see our sales and media achievement. It’s disappointing that our corporate environment and culture didn’t match your expectations but nevertheless, I appreciate your comments. We encourage employees to share their thoughts, ideas and constructive criticism on how we can improve.

Pros

It used to be a great company of family values. 40 years in business. Great work-life balance. Flexibility. Benefits are great, especially considering that this is a small company.

Cons

Not a lot of room for advancement due to the small size. Some people have been given management roles, but are not sure how to lead properly. If you aren't in good with a few particular people, your time there will be limited. Turnover rate has been high in the last few years.

Thank you—we appreciate your feedback. As you noted, we put a great deal of emphasis on maintaining a work culture that puts people and their families first—that comes from having the same family ownership and guiding principles since 1974. Our work/life balance objective hasn’t changed--it’s a permanent and important part of our company’s DNA. Without knowing the specifics of the experience you had here, I want to assure you that we hold managers to a well-defined standard of leadership, and have quarterly/annual appraisals in place for all employees to monitor achievement toward their established goals. Ultimately, a manager’s or an employee’s success here is based on their ability to work collaboratively, demonstrate leadership and achieve their goals—it’s an objective appraisal not based on favoritism. From an HR perspective, our turnover rate is pretty similar to most companies of our type and size. We are proud of the fact that nearly 50% of our staff has been here longer than 5 years, including several that have been here over 20 years.
