Such a shame the way this company is run
Pros
A lot of the staff - carers and office staff are lovely and so dedicated to their work. You meet a variety of people and make a difference to peoples lives. Peter Scott was chief Exec when I was there and I cannot praise him enough - he genuinely cared and was a great boss. Its unfortunate we also had to deal with a Director on a daily basis who was pretty much a tyrant.
Cons
The current Chief Executive was a Director when I was there and there is a strategy of intimidation, bullying and quite honestly a toxic environment. I watched many colleagues get 'thrown under the bus'. 5 Head's of HR were in post in the three years I was there and they either left or were sacked cause they wouldn't jump as high as she commanded. I don't believe that management has an interest in the concerns of those with learning disabilities and their families unfortunately. The company is actually a charity and a business - the business and the way it is run is the worst. People are overworked and underpaid - unless you threaten to leave and they realise they cant do without you and then they throw £5k and a car at you. If your seen as 'a little person' they could not care less. My mental health suffered greatly by working there. For an awful salary - that never increased, zero support, and a dreaded feeling of every single day wondering if I was going to be sacked.
