Pretty good place to work, but a lot of room to grow - Personal Banker I Wells Fargo Employee Review

Pros

Benefits are good, PTO is really nice, stores are usually furnished nicely and kept clean, has a positive reputation in the industry. Upward mobility is achievable

Cons

Moving up can be a struggle, sometimes I question how managers got into their positions, pressure to sell can be overwhelming, compensation is mediocre for the amount of responsibility the job has. Personal Bankers are really the face of the company to most of its customers; when they have a problem we are who they see and who they expect to give them everything they ask for. It really is two jobs in one: customer service and sales. I think the pay should be higher for having so much to do. The bonuses are kind of a joke too, if you get silver in everything your bonus is only around $2000 per quarter, and almost half gets taken out for taxes. Since the Wachovia merger the company seems to have gotten more focused on meeting the bottom line than meeting our customer's expectations of their financial instutution.

Pros

Benefits (but cost creeping up and coverage creeping down each year), Good Morale Both Management and Coworkers, and Honestly a Great Company.

Cons

Cross Selling is the only focus now, firing employees who are great at their job in every area that should matter but if the cross selling results are not meeting the ever ridiculous quota (which continues to rise) than you may not have a job next month. Expectation for customers to say yes to cross selling, leaving you with no real control of your job security. Stress!
