Pros
Pay is decent for the local area. For the industry it's lower than average. The focus on work-life balance USED to make up for this but unfortunately it seems that's on it's way out... 401k match was good at around 8%. Had great management at the local levels - in my experience at least. Higher they are though, less so by far. Especially the top-most levels.
Cons
When I started here I loved it because USAA clearly valued their employees as human beings first and foremost and had a great work-life balance. That was then and this is now however...Over the past 1-1.5 years there has clearly been a big shift...rumors are that if you live within 60 miles of an office you will be forced to return to office 4x days a week and it will contribute to performance review...I couldn't imagine spending 1.5+ hours twice a day driving 60 miles into an office 4x days a week to then get online and join a zoom meeting because we never have in-person meetings in-office regardless... The worst part is during COVID and while we were remote our productivity was through the roof and awards continued to come in...makes 0 sense for them to do this...unless they are trying to thin the ranks and avoid paying severance o_0 Regardless, this company made it to the 100-year mark because of their long-term strategy and focus on members AND employees as human beings first and foremost....with their current short sighted focus on $$$$ I doubt we'll see it happen again.
