Pros
flexible scheduling, work from home, creative. It is a great pit stop to finding a job that will actually get you somewhere.
Cons
Temporary solution: Leadership treats the stylist role as the grunt work. They don't act like they have any interest in whether or not the role has a 100% turnover rate. No future: Since going public, the company has zero interest in truly developing stylists for leadership positions. They have done a really good job of talking about development but have really lacked in action on development. The development program consists of leaders being "really excited" to meet with you and talk about leadership and "always wanting to support stylists" then telling stylists random different things on why they won't be moving on. Fellow stylists and myself have been told so many contradictory things about why I am not getting promoted. It sounds more like they are just throwing out answers because they have no interest in promoting the lowly stylist. There is no authenticity to the leadership message. They have a really great culture that they want to make sure all stylists are organically exhibiting. But there is no culture from leadership put in practice except being REALLY GOOD at inserting the keywords into weekly e-mails and company calls.
