Pros
Starbucks has a very good total pay package, and it is generally a respectful and flexible environment. Not only does it offer medical, dental, and vision benefits, Starbucks also has perks such as free drinks while working, a free pound of coffee each week, up to five weeks of vacation, accrued sick time, six paid holidays, two personal days, tuition reimbursement, 401k, and yearly stock share grants. The partners at Starbucks are treated pretty well. For a food service job, it is definitely still on the upper crust in terms of taking care of the partners. It's a good place for personal growth and development.
Cons
The only thing constant is change. This wouldn't be bad except it's not a philosophy Starbucks has always utilized. Until recently, Starbucks prided itself on its Guiding Principles--the fact that they were listed in order of importance. Now we've come to a point where growing big while staying small has become too overwhelming and our direction as a company, our whole philosophy in fact, has changed. It's not here's the goal and if you don't quite make it we'll talk about how do get better. It's here's the goal and if you don't make it you will be replaced. Again, that would be fine if it had always been that way. But it's a new day at Starbucks.
