Pros

The people are overall very warm and friendly. Remuneration is not the greatest but it's not too bad either.

Cons

In general, Slalom has two operations: Build and Local. Build is the engineering arm while Local consists of multiple different practices including advisory, data and technology enablement, among others. Comments and opinion here are for Slalom Local in Australia. For a relatively new company in the Australian market, it lacks strategy and direction. Members of the leadership team have different ideas for the business. As everyone is headed in a different direction, this results in very little work, especially impactful and meaningful ones, outside of Build, which is where the focus of Slalom is on. Even though there is not much work, they continue to hire. This artificial sense of growth is in contrast to reality, where many are sitting idle. In my opinion, one of the main reasons for this is how it decides on the seniority and responsibilities of people hired, where those with little relevant experience can somehow be given big titles and even elevated to leadership positions. I can accept, and even applaud, giving people opportunities but unfortunately, many have little to show for when it comes to progress and results. In summary, unless you are looking at Slalom Build (which has a separate Glassdoor page), I cannot recommend joining Slalom Australia in the next year or two.

Pros

•There is an impressive budget, especially for high-level events, ancillary experiences, client giveaways, and premium swag. Management does not hesitate to fund top-notch brand experiences when needed. •The company offers a highly competitive benefits and perks package that remains a strong selling point.

Cons

•The "fiercely human" core value does not match daily operations. Collaboration is routinely replaced by a self-service model of training videos and help articles. •These recurring shifts are designed to manufacture the appearance of fiscal stability for the benefit of external stakeholders and clients, while leaving core operational deficits unaddressed. •Organizational maturity is low. Teams operate in deep silos, the internal tech stack is outdated, and there is a distinct lack of adequate project and event management software.
