Pros

Company has been growing and external brand is getting stronger year by year. There is a genuine focus on taking care of our consultants so that they enjoy the work they are doing.

Cons

There is systemic racism in the company and it's evident by looking at the racial makeup of the senior leadership team. One of the companies ten core values is to celebrate authenticity. But you're far more likely to be promoted if you're white or can effectively 'act white' at all times around other executives so they always feel comfortable. The company will use code words like 'culture fit' when assessing promotions and external hires and hidden behind that is making sure that the status quo isn't changed. The status quo is that 19 out of 20 senior executives is white. To get promoted your accomplishments need to far exceed any white peers and you need spend tremendous energy to make sure all white leaders feel very comfortable with your presence, so avoid any confrontation, even healthy discussions.

This is John Tobin. If you are an employee, I would encourage you to read our "United for Equality" internal website that spells out our high-level plan towards a commitment of equality at Slalom. While we do have a number of diverse leaders at Slalom, including our President, CPO, CMO, multiple GMs, and VPs, I agree it is not enough and we will continue to work on that. Please email me at johnt@slalom.com to set up a time for us to review any of our plans or to have further conversation on this topic. Alternatively, if you’d like to share more feedback anonymously, please consider doing so via this survey: http://slalom.ws/anonsurvey.

Pros

•There is an impressive budget, especially for high-level events, ancillary experiences, client giveaways, and premium swag. Management does not hesitate to fund top-notch brand experiences when needed. •The company offers a highly competitive benefits and perks package that remains a strong selling point.

Cons

•The "fiercely human" core value does not match daily operations. Collaboration is routinely replaced by a self-service model of training videos and help articles. •These recurring shifts are designed to manufacture the appearance of fiscal stability for the benefit of external stakeholders and clients, while leaving core operational deficits unaddressed. •Organizational maturity is low. Teams operate in deep silos, the internal tech stack is outdated, and there is a distinct lack of adequate project and event management software.
