Pros

Collaborative management, inclusive staffing, flexible scheduling and supportive team. The best retail/customer service job I've ever had by a long shot.

Cons

Like with any small business, there are growing pains in terms of learning how to build a hierarchy, how to delegate and trust team members to do their jobs efficiently and effectively. Management is constantly learning and growing, though, so although there's times when things feel a little bumpy it's not something that feels immovable or impossible to change and grow through. The owner is learning to trust the team that has been built over the last few years and continues to make progress with allowing the people she's hired to do their jobs without micromanaging, even if it's still a work in progress.

Pros

I am thankful for this Team. The Owner is someone to whom you can bring any issue or concern. It took me a while to find my groove with communication, but things changed for me once I began to communicate instead of withholding what I was thinking/feeling. But that goes beyond She Bop; that's simply how adults in a workspace should behave and work together. Open communication = Change & Understanding Lack of communication = Resentment & Stagnation

Cons

My biggest con is the hours. Working swing shift can be really challenging when you're not used to it. The hours challenge my social life quite a bit, but that has much more to do with my private life and less about She Bop

Pros

Staff is amazing and very passionate about their work and sexual education. By far one of the most dedicated team of people I've ever worked with.

Cons

During my time at She Bop I’ve worked hard to contribute to the success of the store, to support my colleagues, and to fulfill my responsibilities. It’s clear that SheBop is not currently a safe or supportive place for employees of color or for many trans employees, given the patterns of high turnover and dissatisfaction. To me, this directly contradicts the values SheBop claims to stand for. I’ve experienced consistent micromanagement, gaslighting, and racial microaggressions that have made the workplace unhealthy and unsustainable for me. I’ve also witnessed and personally experienced passive-aggressive behavior, attempts to silence me when I’ve raised concerns, and a misuse of authority that does not reflect the company’s mission of equity, empowerment, and inclusivity.
