Pros
No pros. Toxic culture & environment. SF Malaysia is very different from SF China.
Cons
1. Promotions and salary increments are not transparently linked to performance. There is a consistent perception that individuals who are more vocal or self-promoting are favored over those who deliver sustained results. In addition, there is no clear or consistent benchmark for salary adjustments, and decisions do not appear to be based on objective evaluation of performance and capability. 2. There are serious concerns regarding potential conflicts of interest between a China senior leader and a subordinate he/she brought from China. The subordinate is frequently not present in day-to-day operations and is largely only visible during company events, despite stating he/she is working remotely, with office laptop left in the office for weeks. There are also repeated observations that the individual is not consistently involved in project execution while acting as project lead. In contrast, other team members are required to work overtime to meet delivery expectations. Despite this, recognition after project completion appears to be disproportionately attributed to the project lead. 3. Requiring non-Mandarin-speaking employees to communicate in Mandarin creates a barrier to effective communication and impacts collaboration within the team.
