Management does not want to see new hires fail and will go out of way to provide coaching to help them succeed. Immediate impact seen/felt day one. Management knows people individually.
Cons
Long hours - on call 24/7, hard to get away from work, even on vacation or when sick Not great fit for non-mechanically adept young engineers Can be overwhelming first couple of months (like drinking through fire hose)
