Cons
Back-stabbing culture. Management plays favorites, and verbally abuses the non-favorites. Management does not support employees. In fact, they actively create an atmosphere where it is almost impossible to actually do your job. I have had six managers in seven years. Only one of the managers had any kind of management/leadership experience (she was VERY good), and the management above her drove her out of the company after only one and a half years. The competent run away as fast as they can; the incompetent stay to attack anyone that is perceived as a threat. I made two accusations of hostile work environment, and both times they found merit with my complaints, however, nothing was actually done to change the culture. Note that they are now actively implementing a "culture shaping" program that consists of "sound bites" every month; the equivalent of slapping a band-aid on an arterial spray. You can't fix people with severe personality disorders with a 60 second sound bite once a month. When I asked my current manager for assistance with a project issue that required management clout, he said, "Well, it is what it is," then sent me on my way. The issue persisted, pushing out the completion of the project by several months. I have never worked for a company that actually encourages abuse of its employees. No work is getting done, and what does get done is bad, and that's not just my opinion; note that the Paychex application consistently gets a 1 star rating on the Apple store. I have again made the complaint of "Hostile Work Environment" in writing (and even in my annual review rebuttal) in a desperate attempt to improve the work environment, but management has completely ignored my plea, which I think is illegal. The company talks about integrity, but only utilizes it when it suits them. Talk is cheap.
