Pros

Great Benefits! Paychex is great on a resume and this job is a stepping stone to a 100K to150K sales position. This is not a long term job and you can tell by the age range of the reps 90 percent under 40 and most are under 30. If this was a long term position the turnover would be way lower and the average rep age would be higher. Plus the average salary in Glassdoor is skewed by larger markets with a higher base.

Cons

The base pay of 38K is the lowest in the industry. Confrence Reps make around 75K to 85K. There were only a couple of Confrence reps in Denver last year pacing only three this year. The average rep makes around 50K to 60K. Management will make false statements about pay in almost every interview. Since I have arrived at Paychex the turnover has been incredibly high. Moral is at an all time low. Mid level management in the Denver office is laughable. They are far removed from the field and have an unrealistic impression of the market place. They manage out of fear and consequences. If they managed from the field instead of off sales force they would probably do a better job. They try to create a positive environment for new people that's so fake only an idiot wouldn't be able to see through it. The last thing is the office is one of the most depressing places I have ever seen. The most common conversations between reps is have they found a new job yet. Operations personnel are underpaid. One of the hardest challenges is most of the prospects that are not new businesses have had bad experiences with Paychex in the past. Be careful management will try to get clients to run in the current month knowingly it's not the best move for the client. Management thinks very short term and that's why client retention is horrible as well as employee turnover.

Pros

People and the overall environment is a positive one. If you do your part, definite long term career potential. It’s not easy- but stable, growing. Worth serious consideration for early career looking for sales experience with a great training program. Also good for mid-career consideration if base salary isn’t the primary reason you are in sales.

Cons

Very fast pace that doesn’t suit everyone. If you are looking for easy or just a job to “hang out”, this probably isn’t the right spot for you.

Pros

Remote work and Flexible Time Off

Cons

Low pay. Minimal to no career growth. Constant leadership turnover. Conflicting priorities from the top with little strategic direction. Endless “do more with less” mentality and burnout. Mandatory culture and positivity “training” instead of fixing the problems creating poor culture. The company has become reactive, chaotic, and disconnected from the employees who keep it running. Current CEO drove down stock price and eradicated worker morale. Terrible leadership.
