Pros
I had a great people to work with at the local level. Great management at the local level. Company has strong product portfolio. Company car, expense account. Decent health care - but it’s expensive. Plenty of autonomy to call on any customers you can sell to; not limited by geographical boundaries. Corporate culture is more laid back than the biggest competitor (but is trending in that direction). Can be a fun place to work!
Cons
PPG is a company with an identity crisis. Upper management, including the CEO, appear to be clueless about their customer base. It seems like the only experience anyone in upper management has had selling anything to anyone was in a marketing class they had to take during their MBA, roll playing in a classroom setting to their classmates. None of them appear to have any real world experience or hands on knowledge. Constant change in senior management so the goals and direction are always changing. Compensation plan is, by far, the worst in the industry. Health care plans are overpriced.
